December 19th is the key date here. We could be nearly full strength by that date with Melo, Mann, Mark, Miles all back in the lineup. There is an 11 day break.

Goal is we need to steal one of these next three games vs Knicks, Cavs or Pacers before the layoff.

silver lining, over 5 game losing streak we are 7th in def rating, 3rd over past 4 games.

I'll be shocked to win any games in our current state, but hopefully we can win a few after the nba cup mini-break... speaking of which... isn't there supposed to be a game or two scheduled in there when we're eliminated?

either way, I'm going with 2-0ing the Wizards, beating the Bulls, and nobody else. I could see us stealing one of the Sixers games... but I'm sticking with 3-7 again.

another silver lining. 5 more solid games from vasa and we recoup some trade value. he'll be gone by trade deadline. Either be traded or a buyout negotiated so he can return to Europe

On the inside the hive podcast today plow brought up a stat that I found interesting. He said the Hornets ranked 30th in the shot profile that they allow. The opposing teams are getting basically the best shots possible against us free throws shots at the rim and corner threes. The defense has certainly been much better the past five games, But that shot profile indicates that our defensive rating should actually be even worse than it is. Hopefully getting mark Back in the rotation significantly changes the types of shots the Hornets are allowing.

Despite all of these close demoralizing losses we've had over the past few weeks the team is still playing very hard. I'm worried that at some point the reality of the lost season or apathy from the losses starts to set in and these close losses start to turn into some blowouts. We really need to win one of these close games To keep everyone's motivated

Plowright forever an optimist. I would grade Lee closer to a D right now. Melo and Miller would be balling with any coach, they are simply great players

The stuff he actually controls with OOB plays, poorly timed technicals, challenges, the way he handled rotations in the tournament was very concerning to me. Obviously I also think he is a major BSer which I can’t stand but that kind of thing some people just eat up so whatever

Two games were added to our schedule between games 24 and 25... @Bulls on Friday 12/13 and vs Philly on 12/16.

Including these games I think we'll go 4-8 over the 12 game stretch. 5-7 shouldn't be out of the question but we need Melo back for some of the later games.

unfortunately, it looks like it's heading that way. Our theoretically healthy team isn't going to pull off .500 in our January-February schedule which looks hard, so we really needed a healthy first 20-30 games to build up our record, and that didn't happen. If we were actually going to finish with a .500 record this year (which idk that anybody predicted) we needed to be like 18-14 at New Year's which is already mathematically impossible.

I don't think the play-in is out of the question... Philly falling apart due to injury and Hali struggling in every Pacers road game could make for two more bad teams in an already embarrassingly bad East... the last play-in spot is gonna go to a team with like a 30-52 record. I doubt it's us at this point, due to health more than anything, but it could be.

We lead the league in clutch minutes with 64 total minutes played so far this season. We are shooting 39% from the field in those clutch minutes and have a defensive rating of 124.

That is because we mimic the opponents we play. We play up to their level or down to their level and that is why we never can just win a game by 15 points. We either play a clutch game or we lose We have 1 game that we won in a blowout all year vs the Pacers. That is 1 game out of 21 games. I could live with the clutch time loses if that wasn't the only possible way we ever win a game, so then it feels like everytime we are in those spots it is a must win.

Like someone like Memphis is 2-6 in clutch games, but they have won 10 games by 15 or more points. We never do that.

Their winning percentage so far this season is as bad as it was last season, but their net rating has basically been twice as good and they really haven't had any better injury luck. The games have also just felt more serious and competitive. Thats interesting at least.
