Wake up to a bunch of Hornets org bashing this morning over the halftime show. Front page of Yahoo and Reddit. Being a fan of this team is embarrassing and yet we persist

lol

Step 3 of 9 on the path to being an elite franchise, Scrooge away some meaningless toys and jerseys from children the week before Christmas as your halftime entertainment

We saw that.

First kid got a jersey and showed no excitement whatsoever like he was forced to be out there. Whatever, maybe he's a shy kid.

Next kid gets a PS5 and my wife goes WTF wow sucks to be that first kid

kinda hilarious they took the gifts back and totally on brand for the Hornets

On the one hand, it's admirable to teach impressionable young minds the heartbreak and disappointment of supporting the Hornets so they know early what they are getting into.

On the other, maybe its better to not Grinch your own fanbase.

Here's a quality starting center, point guard, and shooting guard. You can't play with them but, ya know, they're yours.

Apparently this was a mistake and they already fixed it + are giving the kid a meet and greet with players (along with the PS5). This seemed like an employee mistake, not the org being cheap. Why would two billionaires care about giving a kid a PS5 lol

Whoever was in charge and okay'd the idea of taking the 'gifts' back should be fired. Seems cut and dry to me. Anyone who thinks this was an acceptable way to interact with the fan base is too incompetent to coordinate guest interactions.

Glad to see they're making it right, but at this point the PR damage has already been done. Only a few people will hear the problem has been addressed.

What I wouldn't give to see us match up against the Middle Earth Gandalfs. We'd undoubtedly stink it up in the third before getting within striking distance in the 4th only to lose when the Gandalfs are unexpectedly saved by a flock of giant eagles.

Awesome - so likely only a minor sprain for Brandon.

Lets get the crew together for a few games to get used to each other - we need some good vibes!

Tbh when I said the “core” should be able to show separation vs Philly last game I was operating under the assumption that Paul George was out cause I thought I had read that. This game though, no excuses. Wizards even have their own mopey depression thread on their board just like us and they’re actually so much worse off than we are

Agreed - If Melo/Miller/Mark can't blow out the Wizards - WTF are we doing? The only (tiny) possible concern is we probably need to give them at least 20 games together before we make any final conclusions.

But if the "big 3" all play here and we don't put them away comfortably it's definitely a fire engine red flag!

Blow out? We saw that once. Almost saw it twice. We've also only been blown out a few times somehow. But a sign of a team without enough firepower and depth is one that never wins big and loses a lot of close games. Like us.

this is almost the most stressful game of all because theres basically one decent outcome: win the game comfortably with no injuries to important players

and a near infinite number of remaining outcomes ranging from discouraging to complete apocalypse

hard to even conjure up a hypothetical moral victory if they lost this game. maybe if Salaun had 20/10 or something? LaMelo 60 piece in a loss probably wouldnt even feel very satisfying

Yes and no. I guess Melo is still on a minutes restriction and prolly not at sharp as before anyways. Mark won't play over 20 minutes most likely, and Miller is dealing with a small injury as well.

The moment all are healthy and Melo and Miller can play around 35 and Mark 30, then its game on. Against Philly Melo was like 26 and Mark 17 with the Miller injury, and then you really cant expect that much IMO.

I just want a win, and not a close one. Really want to see the core showing signs of working together that we can build on.
