Welp might as well dedicate the rest of this sorry year to Knecht's ROY race.

Welcome to the team Dalton.

Wonder if we still make this trade if our other promising wing player, Miller, didn't just have a fairly concerning injury riddled season

Excited to have him. Wanted him in the draft over TS.

He can score, but his defense sucks.

If the plan is to start Melo/Knecht as our backcourt we are going to give up a lot of points.

Knecht might also win ROTY now because he's about to have a bigger role and we already know Lee loves his players shooting 3's.

LaMelo/Knecht/Miller/Miles is an absolutely atrocious group on defense.

These new guys want to chuck 3's and play fast.

It seems we got worst from a GM/Ownership standpoint.

There is no plan. We could have drafted Knecht over Salaun. Now they trade our starting center for him after trading his backup just weeks ago.

We can make it work with Big Mark/NicRic as our rim protectors.

He definitely fits the spamming 3 pointers offense

Knecht has a 12.5 PER which is pretty decent. For reference Brandon Miller was at 13 for a rookie, rookie PJ was 12.4, rookie Miles was 13.1

He is a little older but we still get him on a rookie deal for 5 years. Current ts% is very good, but I expect that to come down a bit.

He’s an old rookie but I like him as a trade guy more than a draft pick. He should steadily improve, probably not make any insane leaps of course, as he picks up the tricks of the trade as a floor stretcher. And he’s locked in cheap. I wasn’t against drafting him even though it would have been really boring pick, kind of like getting him this way.

I don’t love it, a wing gunner with poor defense is not exactly that valuable of an archetype. Imagine him next to LaMelo on defense, lol

Still a massive talent upgrade on the current wing rotation so at least we’ll have some fun watching him this year. I don’t see him as a long term piece.

We continue to confirm my fears that Charles Lee is just a 12 year old playing 2k

ESPN's Kevin Pelton thinks Knecht landing in Charlotte makes him a Rookie of the Year candidate
Joining the Hornets gives Knecht a chance to push for Rookie of the Year. He's sixth among first-year players in points per game (9.4) while playing fewer minutes than everyone ahead of him on that list. The combination of more playing time and a higher usage in Charlotte could allow Knecht to catch the healthy leader in that category, Stephon Castle (12.2 PPG), who figures to play and score less with the San Antonio Spurs adding De'Aaron Fox.

doubt they'd give it to him unless he caught fire and left no doubt he was the best scorer for the last 34 games.

But for the sake of argument, to get up to a season average of 13ppg, he'd need to average 18.1ppg as a Hornet and play in every remaining game.

Let's see how he handles actual defensive attention. He may be our 2nd or 3rd best scorer in games LaMelo doesn't play in, and that's terrifying lol

Hang on, hang on, you guys spent the whole thread talking about how Dalton was like 30 years old, and now I find out that Knecht and Williams are the same age?
