Big Star Targets
I thought it made sense to start a new thread now that the trade deadline has passed with the focus on who we might be able to target between now and the start of the 26-27 season. What stars could we see becoming available, asking out, etc. now that we have a ton of draft capital.
I think what happens in this upcoming draft will drive that and I suspect the team is committed to building around LaMelo and Miller as of now.
Here's a list of stars off the top of my head that I can see becoming available that we could leverage our future draft capital towards:
Zion
Giannis
Embiid + PG13
Steph
Lauri
Sabonis
Bam
Some of those guys might be too old by the time we got them and perhaps there's younger stars on max contracts that look to get out earlier, but none of them seemed realistic at this point.
I feel like of the above list, most attainable would be Zion and Lauri. Steph, the ship has sailed on giving up anything of significance for him IMO.

Re: Big Star Targets
Sabonis, Bam, Lauri would be the guys I target seriously.
Nurk, Miles, picks, NSJ, whatever needed. It's time they get serious about adding talent and need to do it now while Miller and Mark(?¿?) are on rookie deals

Re: Big Star Targets
I'd be monitoring Anthony Edwards with Lore/A-Rod getting the team. basically going to be the Dallas situation again except hopefully a team like us will be allowed to make an offer. Those two aren't paying for a competitive roster any time soon

I hesitated to add him because I couldn't imagine them moving him without taking LaMelo + more back for example. But hell yeah, I'd give up the farm for him, even Miller but it wouldn't matter if we also gave up LaMelo.

Ant is definitely the type of player you go after. If we seriously trying to make a home run splash he's the guy.
Probably would involve moving Melo to a 3rd team. I like the idea of building around a Ant/Miller duo.

Re: Big Star Targets
Well, I wouldn't call it a BIG signing, but I think Tre Jones would be an excellent get for the Hornets. My thinking is that LaMelo's best usage is off-ball. A competent point guard would make that alignment possible. It might also help Bridges see his true value attacking the rim instead of raining bricks from beyond the arc. Still young at 25, Jones would grow with the young core and offer veteran stability at a critical position.

Re: Big Star Targets
What do you guys think we could get for Cooper Flagg if we decided to get real rowdy (no way in hell with him being on a rookie deal) but hypothetically

I’d go for Edwards in a nanosecond. Him and Lamelo from a talent perspective would be a top 3 backcourt of all time.

Re: Big Star Targets
Jokes aside probably some mega package from the Jazz
Probably pretty much any older star that asked out and wanted to come here like Giannis, Curry, Embiid not sure why we’d want them. Booker, Morant, Ant if he asks out.

Re: Big Star Targets
If we score top 2 in the lottery, I'd go ahead and offer Dallas+Heat pick back to Miami for Adebayo. His stock is lower than before since the Heat are going nowhere. I imagine Miami could be convinced to accept.
Your Charlotte Hornets! We’ll eventually get something right;right?

Re: Big Star Targets
Hold up, anyone suggesting we trade Cooper Flagg if we happened to land #1 needs to take a step back and reflect. No way that would happen, he's almost guaranteed to be a star. And if we landed #2 or #3 for that matter, I'd still want to keep it for Harper or even Bailey/VJ.
Any draft capital we trade should be beyond this upcoming draft.

if you're offered Bam or Sabonis or someone for pick 4 and a future pick, you're declining it?
investigate Adam Silver

No, not for pick 4. Basically I would not give up Flagg or Harper for Bam or Sabonis. Probably anything after that, especially if you're getting back a future pick then yes.
