Elfrid Payton's second 10-day contract expired today.

Malachi Flynn has averaged 21.3 PTS, 5.4 REB and 4.3 AST on 47.6 FG% and 38.1 3P% for the Austin Spurs in the G League.

On 4/3/24, he scored 50 points off the bench for the Detroit Pistons against the Atlanta Hawks.

Payton had struggled mightily in his two 10 day stints with Charlotte. Flynn is a better scorer, but will be a downgrade in terms of defense and passing vision

Isn't he the guy who was supposed to be better than Melo?

Seems like a bargain.

Plowright has no clue what he’s talking about. Payton was awful in every aspect of the game

I'd rather watch the young guys struggle along than add an undersized fringe hanger-on gunner

All I can think about is whatever happened to Jonny Flynn.

He didn’t say he wasn’t, but scarily he thinks Flynn will be even worse defensively and with his passing.

This tank is starting to compete with Cho’s juggernaut

This feels like an unintentional tank. If coach can’t win 30 games next year, he’s out of here. I don’t care what kind of roster you have, you don’t lose by 130 in a 3 game span. This is the NBA.

Your team has played 58(?) games so far and all of the following have missed a decent to significant amount of games; Williams, Bridges, Ball, and Miller.

Not saying that the Hornets would’ve won a ton of games, but I’d almost call it being forced into a tank by injuries

you are correct but there is also very intentional tanking going on

The owners literally told us they were in acquiring assets mode (aka tanking) mode before the season even started. With the early injuries to Williams, Williams, Mann, Melo and now Miller it became the clear choice to fully bottom out.
