Sacramento might be in rebuild mode this off-season.
Could Mark get us Sabonis
Nurkic expiring/Mark/Mia 1st for Sabonis

I think Sabonis is a real possibility, moreso that Zion.
Hopefully the Kings also demand Salaün.
I have no earthly idea why they would, but I refuse to surrender my hope for all that is good and right in the world.

I'd offer Mark and Miles for Sabonis, gives them a different look. Moose could play alongside Sabonis.
Hopefully we get flagg as well

Sabonis is one of the more tricky guys to build around, Sacramento has struggled to build a good defense the past few years while playing Sabonis at the 5 and he is really a good enough shooter to play at the 4. He is very talented and we would probably improve by trading for him as long as we didn't give up too much but the fit might not be worth the cost imo.

If Sabonis becomes available, he's immediately target #1 for me. This team looks way different with a big man that can score down low and act as a secondary or even primary playmaker. Offensively, he is an absolutely terrific fit with Melo and Miller.
I comfortably offer up any pick outside the top2, and if necessary, add value.

Sabonis can't defend as a center. So he's a PF that can't shoot.

Yeah, I don't really want Sabonis. I would rather have Mark. Sabonis is a very good player, but you have to warp your entire team around him and hes not quite good enough and a bit too old to warrant giving up a bunch of assets for if a team is still young and rebuilding. He should be a target for a contending team that already has established stars that fit with his game.
The Hornets need to aggressively pursue opportunities to get better, but they dont need to fall into the trap of thinking they have to immediately do something huge just for the sake of if there aren't opportunities available immediately that make sense for their team. They need to improve significantly next season, but they don't necessarily need to push all their chips in right away. They have enough talent in their core and enough assets that they can improve significantly while also being a bit patient when it comes to making their final big splash move. A realistic timeline would be to compete for play-in next season and compete for actual playoffs the season after.

The funny thing with Sabonis is that, on paper Myles Turner is a perfect fit to pair him with. He needs a rim protecting big on one end and one that can shoot the ball from 3 on the other... but even that never really worked out for Indy, his 4 years as a starter there they never made the playoffs.
Sabonis has 20 career playoff games, 6-14 record.
He took Kings to playoffs one time in the last 4 seasons.
With him turning 29 in May, I think his trade value will be lower than what maybe his resume says he should be worth as a 2x All NBA selection. Especially if the new Kings GM does a bit of a firesale.

He has shot better from 3 the past 2 years then I expected, albit a low volume of threes.
41.7% on 2.2 attempts
37.5% on 1.1 attempts the previous 2 years before that.
That is more stretch 5 number of attempts than PF, but really it is his passing that gives him the stretch 5 designation more than anything.
I just likely am not going to be a fan of trading a top 5 pick for anyone this draft, we tanked all year. We have 6 firsts over the next 3 drafts. I would much rather add the rookie and use future bonus picks to trade for someone like Sabonis or Zion.
What is the point of having all those future firsts if we are just going to cough up a top 3 pick instead? Doesn't make sense to me.

Why not just use lesser assets to salary dump Green and Nurk, then offer Myles Turner a big contract.
He shoots even better from 3 and is good on defense. We can just go super big and play him with Mark Williams.

off-season isn't complete without at least one Myles Turner trade idea

Why would we give up significant assets for a tweener?
We'd just become a worse version of what the Kings were the last few years.
We desperately need some stretch bigs, not more guys lacking a consistent shot on large shooting samples.
Ideally we should be looking for young second, third or fourth year players that in theory could become two-way threats with development and a larger role. Suggs?
I loved Jalen Johnson coming out of the 2021 draft and he's a guy I'd throw a haul at right now. Miller and Johnson as our long wings would be nice.

Would mind suggs, desilva, black, and their first for melo and green.

Realistic spots to trade our two early seconds to get back into the first round?
Orlando?
#24 for #33 and #34?
I feel Suns at #29 or LAC at #30 isn't enough incentive and the other late first teams already have a lot of picks in this draft.
Trade them for a heavily protected future first turning into seconds if not conveyed (hard to work)? Or some sort of B tier rookie scale reclamation project/roster upgrade/Josh Green dump sweetener? Or just make the picks?

I think Suns at 29 could be fine if there is a larger plan to flip it. Phoenix needs as many cheap roster spots as they can get. Their tax bill is up there which is why we did business with them, turning cap relief into draft capital plus rotation players in Okogie and Nurkic.
I think pick 29 could be bundled with the 2026 1st from the Nurkic trade, and used to trade up a little further.
Perhaps the Thunder would take 1 late 1st + future 1st 2026 for pick 15 if they feel they can get a comparable contributor at 29. The 2026 1st via Memphis/Orlando (less favorable) would be valuable to OKC since they didn't get that unprotected 1st from the Heat for 2026. Their roster is not really conducive to a rookie getting minutes anytime soon. They're stacked.
This proposal gives them a pick in the 2025 draft but the 2026 Nurk 1st gives them more time to trade picks as part of a deal for a ready-player.

So Suns get 33 + 34 for 29.
Thunder get 29 + 2026 Grizz/Magic 1st for 15.
Hornets get 15 for 33 + 34 + 2026 Grizz/Magic 1st.

I think Phoenix owe us an additional future second, possibly protected 31-35 in this scenario.

Did I miss something, as I thought the Thunder hold pick #20? In any event, who would be the target for trading up at 15, or even 20?
As the draft drifts back toward the late lottery into the 20’s, I find more question marks than answers for such a so called deep draft. That’s where a lot of foreign players are being projected. And every one of them has significant unknowns relative to expectations at the next level. Some might target Danny Wolf as a reserve center (ESPN mocks him 19th), or perhaps Asa Newell (mocked 21st). But not sure these guys are worth spending both our 2nds and a future first to obtain. Would rather trade the 2 seconds with Phoenix to get their 29th pick, especially if Rasheed Fleming or Walter Clayton Jr are likely in that range.
