Re: The Kon Knueppel Thread
sorry Nipples, i was higher on you than some on this board but your measurements really punched you in the dick.
Sg size but without guard athleticism. More Dougy McBuckets than Sczerbiak

Re: The Kon Knueppel Thread
Agree, his size and average athleticism will help him slide back toward the late lottery. Still a valuable player but no consideration at 4.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Re: The Kon Knueppel Thread
Anybody have a read on him as a prospect compared to Reed Sheppard as a prospect? I see some souring based on his measurements, but Reed was last year's predraft board darling iirc, so I'm curious if he wouldn't be able to provide a lot of those same things. Is it just that this draft is better than last year's at the top so it would be bad value?

Is he not participating in any of the activities today? I haven't seen anything on his shooting, agility, testing numbers today. maybe I just missed it.

Yeah, he must be in one of the later groups, I only show around 45 players have shooting stats thus far and we know 75 players were invited.

Was hoping he would be 6 6 without shoes.

If he is smart, he would tweak his ankle in the first drill and avoid the rest, maybe he proves me wrong.

If we could trade back a bit and come away with Knueppel and Sorber or Knueppel and Queen I wouldn't mind it a bit.

Re: The Kon Knueppel Thread
Can anyone think of a less athletic player in recent years that was getting top 5 buzz? There have been unathletic players go high, but all the ones I'm thinking of seem more athletic than Kon. Reed was smaller and in a terrible draft class, but I think he clearly looks more athletic than Kon. Even someone like Corey Kispert seems more athletic.
I think he can be a better player than many of these guys that were more athletic than him because his IQ and skill level is so high, but I just can't get over how dreadfully slow and stiff he looks on the court. I have a feeling he is going to go lower than people are thinking right now. On Sam Venecies post lottery podcast they did a mock and he was seriously advocating for Kon to go #3 to Philly and I was just thinking like what are we doing here...

Re: The Kon Knueppel Thread
I have a gut feeling that says he's more in play for the Hornets at 3 than some of y'all might think. obviously the Hornet's front office spent a lot of time watching the Duke players last year, Not just because it's close but also because of the connections to where we had training camp and the owners connections to Duke.
The front office clearly wants to add more three point shooting, and were linked in the draft and obviously then tried to trade for Dalton in the middle of the season. - similar pros/cons.
There's also this Hornets dna thing that they don't shut up about which I think a lot is about character as much as it is being tenacious. Kind of reminds me of cho's 4 c's database. I think this new front office will put more emphasis on character than Mitch did.
Not agreeing or disagreeing I'm just thinking that Hornets might like him more than we think

Re: The Kon Knueppel Thread
I would guess they scouted him just because he's projected in their target range and they didn't know what would happen with the lotto, and also they need the data in case trade opportunities show up.
I would certainly hope they would be doing appropriate diligence on all first round prospects, that's table stakes IMO.

I'm starting to think Tre Johnson might be the most likely pick at #4. I think Bailey will go 3rd and if I had to guess right now I would lean towards guessing they would take Tre over VJ.

Re: The Kon Knueppel Thread
I have never seen a highlight tape look more unimpressive for a guy getting this type of buzz. You watch Fears for 30 seconds, VJ for 30 seconds, Ace for 30 seconds, Harper for 30 seconds and it is very easy to see the appeal on why they should go top 5. Kons tape has no elite finishing, no off the dribble threes, no semblance of an advanced handle, no special defensive plays.... his whole highlight tape is him shooting open threes, throwing alleys to Maluach and a handful of the ugliest buckets at the rim you will ever see.
He is just the type of guy that you can find in the 15-30 range most years, taking him top 5 is such a wasted pick.
