My point wasn't that he'd helped, but that he came out and gave effort even though his face was swollen and his vision was blurred. IMO that showed HEART...this should preclude him from any complaints about "disappearing" in the 4th. Up until then he'd played a pretty darn good game and he came back regardless of the injury to do whatever he could to help his mates.
You keep blasting him about defense...no one is playing team D with any semblance of a plan most of the time. Jason has NEVER been considered a good defender and no one should expect one. When we're beat and everyone is trying to compensate he's not going to recover like Crash or Felton would...he's just not as fast laterally. This is not going to change. When the team works as a unit it doesn't happen as often...get that going consistently and we cover individual weaknesses a lot better.
What we can look from JRich is effort on D and excelling in the things he can do...like shoot a high %, rebound and block an occasional shot. Without his shooting (especially in the last 8 games) we wouldn't have been in any position to sniff a victory.
Just like with Ammo...if you expect a Larry Bird clone you are sure to be continually disappointed. You have to realize what's there and what's possible. Not doing more isn't on him, it's on you.
If only I'd just quoted the next two posts behind mine...
I know what your point was. But that is just one game, there have been many games where he's disappeared for long stretches.
Also, someone cannot be considered "outstanding" when their knocking down shots, while being horrid on the other end. Defensively in the Bulls game, he was getting beat constantly by Gordon which led to many easy baskets from not only Gordon, but the Bulls big men too.
Tonight he was raining jump shots, but letting VC score at will. Point being, for all the good JRich does shooting the ball, he gives it up on defense AND A WHOLE LOT MORE.
Another thing that bothers me about him, a lot of times he stands still on defense with his back to the opposing team as the shot goes up and he's boxing out nobody. When the shot is missed, JRich is standing flat footed as opposing player does cartwheels and backflips over him and easily slams the ball home. Happens at least 5 times every game. Bulls game it must have happened at least 10 times. lordy lordy. Just watch and see what I'm talking about.
Now you can blame everyone else for their poor defense which is definitely fair, however last I checked, nobody else on our team is making 13 million dollars a season. And for that amount of money, I expect good all around play. I expect leadership and someone who brings it every game. Someone who doesn't disappear and stand still while staring into space when the shots goes up.
Also I have a problem with you criticizing me for getting on individual players. Unless it's ALL Sam Vincents fault, (which is I seriously doubt) then the players need to be accountable too. This is the NBA, not college and they get paid a FORTUNE of money to play to the best of their abilities and WIN games. Are we winning games? Uh no. So whats your problem with me? I mean God forbid I get on JRich, "Mr. 13 million dollar man" for not being able to get in front of his man and at least slow him down! You know, so Mek can rotate over and prevent another easy basket.
I really do not like fans like you. Nothing personal, but it's fans like you who make it easy on ownership to do nothing. To sit tight and let a crappy team skate by. To hire an unproven NBA coach because fans like you are very patient and are just happy to have a team. You are Bob Johnson's ideal fan cause you never criticize the team. Listening to you, you'd think we were 10 games over .500. Whatever. Have fun watching a loser for the next 10 years.
