Universial Trade Thread - but DON'T WANT TO TRADE WALLACE!!!
Posted: Fri Jan 18, 2008 4:05 am
Since most of the other boards do this, lets just have one thread on possible trades the Bobcats can look at and for other team fans to post so it doesn't clutter up the main board. If the mods don't like it, then just lock or delete this thread and it won't ever be heard of again!
Here is my opinion on who is on the block, and you guys can put your input in and I'll change it if majority says so.
Untouchable:
Gerald Wallace
Jason Richardson
These guys are beginning to gel and its real nice, and its clear these two are the focus of the team right now. We aren't trading either of them, so don't offer. Any offer including one of these without Kobe, Lebron, Wade, Nash, Garnett, Yao, Bosh, Dwight, Amare, and so on coming back is worthless whether you believe it or not.
Players the Bobcats would prefer to keep, but would let go if offered more than face value:
Jared Dudley
Nazr Mohammad
Matt Carroll
You may be wondering why would want to keep these guys, but Carroll is the prototype shooter/offensive production a team would like off the bench, and Nazr is a solid rebounder and scorer who is also a big, which is a low commodity in the NBA. Duds is a rookie, but has shown enough in flashes to be a great 3/4 tweener as a starter or off the bench. Simply put, Dudley has real promise and is not any sort of filler to be included in trades.
Good players available for the right price:
Emeka Okafor
Raymond Felton
Both of these players help the Bobcats, so they aren't going to be traded just for the sake of being traded. But both are young and have put in the time to rely on as starters, and both have good qualities that other teams would covet. For Okafor, he is a great low post defender, a great rebounder, often top 5, and can get a fair share of blocks and steals for a big man. He is also an efficent scorer. The only knock on Okafor is his lack of intensity, or his "Julius Peppers" syndrome. A change of scenery could help or hinder him, and ditto for Felton, who gets assists in flashes and is able to guard most any PG in the league efficently. Both players can give you a solid 35-40 minutes a night.
The Phantom Menace:
Adam Morrison
Despite what you see on the stat sheets, Morrison is not filler and the Bobcats will not want to give him up so easily. Morrison showed great promise in preseason that he can be a scorer, so the Bobcats won't trade him for the sake of giving him up. He was only a rookie last season.
A bit better on filler, if you take the risk:
Sean May
May can be a starter in this league if he ever got in shape or stayed healthy. He is a great midrange shooter with a solid low post game and above average rebounder. He is filler, but I still don't think the Cats would trade him for the sake of trading him. Your choice.
You can have these players, no really, go ahead:
Jeff McInnis
Derek Anderson
Othella Harrington
Ryan Hollins
Jamereo Davidson
Trade filler, but a PG would be needing to come back if McInnis is the one thats going. The two rookies could be included in any deal, but the Bobcats would rather hold on to them if possible. Either way, these players don't matter that much to the Bobcats and these are the fillers you should put in trades (Harrington and Hollins are exp., McInnis is a team option I believe but has BYC status meaning he can nullify the trade (why the hell does McInnis have this option?))
