I would have passed. He'll give us depth and make us better but it's too late to matter now

Good.

I thought since they waited so long to sign him, that they were just going to wait for the trade deadline and hope to trade some of our expiring contracts, and use that open roster space to take back one more player than we sent away.

I don't know much about Boykins. I think he lit us up one year with Milwaukee. After over half a season with our "situation" at PG, I'd take just about anyone, if just for the purpose of shaking things up.

It's just another case of the team showing it will pay to get players, it will do things to try and improve (even if it takes awhile); Boykins ain't exactly a long-term solution at PG, but hopefully we will address that in the offseason.

PS - isn't that strike 3 for Bonnell?

(1) "We wouldn't trade for Richardson." We did.
(2) "We wouldn't go after Varejao, or spend much to add a big man." We did.
(3) "We wouldn't sign Boykins." We did.

I was reading on the Observer board about how some jobs at the Observer got outsourced.

I hope Bonnell's was one of them.

We're only 2 games out of the 7th playoff spot and it's still January. It's way too early to think it's too late.

But "UGH"!!!! I hate Boykins! I don't know what it is, but I've hated him for a while now... guess I'll have to get over it

We still have to stop playing McMinus so much...maybe we will trade him or something....but with our coach we will probably just start playing Boykins and Felton at the same time...and hope that the zone protects us...

I'm callin it. Here's our starting lineup from now on:

PG: Boykins
SG: McCinnis
SF: Felton
PF: Richardson
C: Wallace

Seriously, until Vincent stops playing McCinnis and Felton together, whats the point of another point guard?

I have the happiest girlfriend in the world

Besides that, we just updated our pg situation and off of the bench scoring. Don't understand why it took so long, but hopefully this ends McInnis' reign of horrible.

Yes!

I suggested him a while back. This is great.

Ahhh, now the "kinky" comment after I posted "3 way" in the Kidd thread is starting to make more sense! 8)

I'd have preferred a more defensive minded guard, but we can always use more scoring I guess. Won't this probably mean less touches for the post players?

WHY DIDN'T WE DO THIS 2 MONTHS AGO!?!?

If we were going to do it, we should have ages ago.

Earl The Pearl Boykins in Charlotte! I like this move a lot because he is score first PG. With Vincent going to a two PG system, Boykins would fit in well with Felton.

i love this move. boykins can flat out score and he is CLUTCH in the 4th. we desperately needed another guard who could create his own shot.

we dont play perimeter defense anyway... so we might as well try to score some points.

mcinnis and boykins together in the backcourt makes a lot more sense than mcinnis and felton. felton doesnt compare to boykins as a scoring guard.

i'd love to see sam move carroll into the starting backcourt with felton and bring jeff and earl off the bench together.

If I know my Vincent, we won't be seeing any less of McInnis. It will be McInnis/Felton or McInnis/Boykins.

Mark my words.

The love-fest for McInnis is not over until I actually have evidence, IN GAME!

At every possible opportunity, Vincent has made or continues to make completely illogical decisions regarding playing time/substitutions/etc. Okafor sitting...Nazr starter...Nazr not starter... Nazr hardly playing... Felton PG, no Felton SG, Felton... on bench... Dudley...on bench... it goes on and on...

Muggsy Bogues- with better knees and a shooter's touch. I like it!

Giving the Cats more reason than ever to ...Claw ON!

Did I say I like it? Oh yeah.

I'm not a fan of Boykins at all. He's everything I dislike in a pg. I serioulsy hope that bringing him in doesn't have an adverse effect on the offense of JSwish, Crash and EO50 (especially EO50). I also hope that this makes Hammer (and his contract) a negative.

Then again, I wasn't overly excited about DA coming in and that worked out pretty well. It's going to be interesting to see how V plays Boykins into his "rotations" - if you'd call them that!!

I think that Boykin is a better scorer right now than Ray, Ray is a better passer, I think the competition in practice, and perhaps Ray learning a bit how to score from Boykins, will pay dividends. What do the Milwaukee and Denver fans think about Boykins?
