I think Walt said J Rich declined an invitation. I guessing maybe he has plans already or didn't wanna compete.

I responded "lame" to Fats post in the other thread. In Raleigh we had no local feed of the Suns game, but I guess Steve Martin mentioned at some point that Jrich was invited but declined.

I hope he has a good excuse. I'd be loving the opportunity to be the first winner of a dunk contest and 3pt contest!

yup... i posted this in the OTHER jrich 3pt thread about half a page down :)

according to steve martin, jrich declined an invitation to the 3pt contest.

i wish he would have gone for exposure reasons, but i can certainly understand wanting the time off, especially with our second half schedule.

It's a good thing I just saw he was invited but declined because I was about to freak out. Maybe he's sick of being invited to the side show gimmicks instead of the actual game.

He never watched playoff games when he was in GS. He said he wasn't going to watch any until the Warriors made it to the playoffs. Maybe declining the invite has something to do with how he feels he is playing, or how the Cats are doing? I'm just guessing here.... :dontknow:

For a franchise that has had almost no representation at the All-Star festivities (and, no, I don't consider the rookie/sophomore game much representation), I think it's a pretty big disappointment for him to turn it down.

It might not mean much to him, but it would mean a lot to Charlotte fans. We don't get much publicity as it is, so it would have been nice to turn into All-Star weekend and see one of our players participating.

Very true. Further, no Cat was even invited to the Rookie/Sophomore game, meaning that this season there will literally NO representation for Charlotte fans.

Instead it's Kobe/Rip Hamilton time.

Yeah I totally agree... we might not have an all-star for a while, having a player there would be great. What if he won?
