Do we re-sign Okafor, and for how much?

Post#1 » by fluffernutter » Sat Feb 16, 2008 8:49 pm

If we suck this year, and we do, at least Okafor is sucking along with the rest of the team, possibly hurting his chances for a big paycheck.

Do we resign him? If so, how much and how long?

Before this year I thought we had to resign him for whatever it took. Now... not so much. I could live with the (right) trade.

I also think he's hurt his value this year. Is he worth 10 million a year? No? Yes?

8-10?

7?

11-12?

He's in the Dalembert/Curry/Camby/Chandler/Ilgauskas/David West paycheck zone.

That's 10.25M, 8.9M,11.25M,10.5M, 10.14M, 10.65M.

Although, I think there's something like half of the season left to still be played...

Okafor Made Good Decision - Hoopsworld

Another perspective. From the title you can probably guess which way they're thinking. BTW...Hoopsworld has revamped somewhat and have some vids and a nice but short Q&A with Crash.

I still think he's going to get at least what he was reportedly offered which was supposedly almost 13 per with incentives included. Sure we all see some negatives and inconsistency, but he's still in small company considering the things that he does.

Al Jefferson signed for 65/5 right?

That's about where I see EO50's worth right now.

I think we'll probably offer him the same deal we had on the table before. I don't picture anyone coming in and offering more anyway.

Is this thread from today, or is from however many weeks ago, back when Okafor was "sucking?"

That's not nice of you people to bump this old thread, and make fluffer look foolish.

What? You say he actually posted this TODAY?

After he's averaged 15/16 this month? After he's gotten his rebounding numbers back up to around his career high? After he's gotten his shooting back up to his career high?

Maybe if I were also still stuck in the time warp where Okafor was "sucking," I could fathom signing Okafor to "7m/year." Oh, wait, no not really, considering even when he "sucked," he was still better than most big men, and average big men make that sort of money.

I missed the part where you attributed his rise in production to Felton getting more steady minutes at the point.

That would be because it didn't happen.

Once Okafor got out of his slump, he's been doing what he's been doing whether Felton was the PG, McInnis was the PG, or even the one game where Wallace was the PG.

Since the Detroit game, where I believe Okafor broke out of his slump --nothing like playing without either of our PGs to break you out of a slump! -- his starting PG has been:

Wallace (or if you prefer, Carroll) - 1 time
Felton - 4 times
McInnis - 13 times

God let it go, you are absolutely boring!

Please allow yourself, and others, to talk about something without bringing up your hobby horse! Please! Good lord. Please!

I am talking about OKAFOR who has been having a very inconsistent season and who has not really helped himself in negotiations with the Bobcats, I don't think, given his uneven play.

OKAFOR, got it?

Let me repeat, OKAFOR!

And I plead, for the entire forum's sake, for the sake of not driving any more people away due to mind-numbing boredom, GET OFF YOUR HOBBY HORSE!

PS I have removed you from my signature because I honestly never want to read any comments you might have made any point guard the Bobcats ever play, sign, or contemplate signing.

Much like usual, you should be telling your fellow Felton Fanatics not to bring him up, because as you can clearly see, my first post made absolutely no mention of him.

And you should have left me in your sig, so at least one part of everything you post would have some truth to it :( Jeff McWinnis, baby!

Hah

I just want Okafor to get consistant minutes. I hate when he's playing well and Vincent takes him out before the end of the 1st and we don't see him again till there's 6 mins left in the 2nd. Or when he just sits him the entire 4th quarter.... Okafor has been playing well on both ends lately and I hope he gets the chance to continue.
