Would you take it?

Like, a deal similar to the one the C's gave Seattle last season.

I'll get some opinions first before I give mine, and NO HAMILTON I HAVEN'T JUMPED OFF HIS BANDWAGON AND AM A "LOONEY".

I'd have to say no, unless the "extras" are really impressive. Drafting a player that would be as good as Wallace would be a HUGE success, so I don't see the point.

Unless we're worried about his concussions, which I don't really know how to judge. Seems like he's playing okay since he's come back, and he came back quicker than I expected...

I still think Wallace is a great player. But I think there are some quality players that we could use in this draft, save money, and not have to worry about Gerald's health and longetivy in the league.

Seattle got the #5, Delonte, and Wally (expiring), which was a pretty good deal IMO (although they mesesed up the pick).

Say we could sign Jamison with the money that is cleared and keep Okafor.

I don't think a #3-#8 pick would be worth giving him up... but a deal for someone proven would work for me. I guess if we did the #3-#8 pick it would depend on who's available as well as who the throw ins would be. Bob Bass could turn Wallace into the playoffs for this team.

Hold the Mayo.......too similar to Felton. Maybe not a pure PG....we need a pure PG. I would rather have Bayless, Augustine, Collison, or Rose to be my PG. If we made the deal I wouldn't mind Bayless or Augustine (if Rose isn't there) and Love or Jordan.

I would trade Wallace for a lottery pick in a second......it would basically be Jamison and lottery pick for Wallace.

Are we the only team that tries to get better by retaining our problems and getting rid of our good players?

No, definitely not unless the Cats have some medical analysis that we don't know of that reveals Gerald will end up like Dan Morgan. Between Crash and J-Rich we actually have our wings set, we should be focusing on moving other plays to shore up whichever remaining starting spots we feel are held by unworthy players.

Thumbs up Rich4114 for giving Bob Bass respect. I was the biggest Hornets fan around until they moved (just couldn't bear to follow them in NO, thus the Bobcats switch) and Bass was criminally underrated. We wouldn't pay for new contracts, had like 20 some consecutive FAs walk, and he consistently weaved straw into gold. If he had GM'd the Knicks or Lakers he'd be a model of excellence.

On the subject of Mayo, he isn't a PG so we wouldn't be replicating Felton. The only reason people look at him as a 1 is because he's an above-average passer for his position and he's not 6'6. Plenty of other productive 2s have been around 6'4-6'5, Wade is an excellent example of this. They tried to pigeonhole him at PG as well before eventually letting him be a scorer where he's most effective. I'm of the opinion Mayo has been in a terrible system this entire season that if anything minimizes his impact, I think he's got franchise-player potential in the pros. I'd love to have him, obviously, but we'd have to trade J-Rich eventually as a result so it's less cut-and-dry then drafting a big man or even a PG since we at least need a backup there.

Bayless is a LONG way frmo being a pure point guard.

I might consider it. Would not take Collison or Mayo, just not enough talent or much difference from felton. I like augustin and rose. That last thing we need is Love though. We need an athletic 4 to play with EO. Love is maybe the only person in the draft close to as slow as Hibbert. Those two guys would be worthless here, IMO. If Greene comes out he would be the way to go I think, 6'10" and good speed and quickness.

Give me Westbrook. UCLA can win it all (top seeded) that would convince Bernie, if he had still the keys there would be no question about it (Okafor - Felton and May - Westbrook).

No, because I like what Wallace brings to this team and...

I don't want any part of a deal that would probably send back Greg Buckner, Mark Madsen, and maybe someone like Ryan Gomes.

I wouldn't trade Crash for just 3 thru 8, but if you added in a future pick as well as some potential I think the organization would have to entertain it.

Mayo is similar to Felton? I haven't seen him a lot but I thought he was legit 2 go to scorer with some handles and decent vision as well as a above average defender. Sort of like Roy but looks to take over more? Definitely not a PG however...he's what I consider a real combo guard.

If Crash was going out I'd definitely target him and move Swish to the 3.

I'm afraid of Gerald Wallace.

I was ecstatic when we resigned him for so cheap (a party was thrown at my house), and perhaps concussions are a silly injury prone worry... but what if?

What if this means we use our own pick to take Anthony Randolph/Blake Griffin/Roy Hibbert/Kevin Love/the big of your choice and at 5 take, ehh.. Mayo/Gordon/Bayless/Augustin.

If the FO has doubts that May can go (and they should) and if they suspect Wallace is damaged goods (maybe they do, who knows) doesn't this move improve us?

Especially if the cap space yields an Antawn Jamison/Marvin Williams?

I would actually not be upset if we traded Wallace. We can definitely get something really good in return and I think Jordan has the balls to make a move like that. SF is the one position we are totaly loaded at and PF/PG are the positions we are lacking in.

I have 2 other big reasons as to why I'd be on board with this.

#1 is Wallace has gone away from what helped him earn that big payday. Scoring wise, he is NOT a #1 option eventhough we try to make him one. When he gets the ball outside the 3pt line it's like he has a brain fart and just sits there holding it without moving for 5 seconds. He also can't shoot worth a damn and likes to go dwayne wade sometimes.

#2 Wallaces strengths are slashing to the rim and getting to the FT line. He can also rebound and has become a decent passes. The problem with this style of play is that he's now had the 4 concussions so if I were him, I'd be thinking about my long term health first.

So do we want the risk of having a guy at his salary who can't shoot be a jump shooting SF who wants to be our first scoring option?

J-Rich is our best scorer hands down. He can slash like Wallace can, but he can also create his own shot and make jumpers at a high %. If Wallace has no long term risks and can go back to being the 2nd scoring option and primarily just slash to the basket or post up as his first option, then I'd lean toward keeping him because he's one of the best in the league at that.

A lot of this would depend on how Morrison turns out and how far Dudley can go. Those two guys have loads of potential but it'd be a risk getting rid of Wallace hoping those guys come through as big as Wallace can.

Wallace isn't exactly the brightest crayon in the box, and that is what I think hurts him the most.

We had to give him that contract, because it was a steal. But did you notice that he wasn't courted by any other team?

I changed my mind, I'd keep him unless we can get the #2 pick or Derrick Rose, who we REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY need. We got to hope Memphis or Minny gets the #2 pick, because neither of them want or need Rose, and both would trade down .

i would only consider trading him as part of a larger deal that would bring us a major upgrade at pg or pf or would land a us a potential superstar. i would definitely not trade wallace any pick lower than 3.
