I give up

Post#1 » by NCHeels2008 » Sun Mar 30, 2008 5:37 pm

we always start winning once we are clearly out of the playoff picture and now our pick gets worse. I don't even know how positive I can be about our players looking better because it seems like this happens every year. We are going from OJ Mayo territory to DeAndre Jordan territory:/

Those are not the right players to demonstrate that this is not a good thing.

You're concerned about draft picks.
I'd like to see this team use some common sense such as; you don't spend on two DIFFERENT SGs, you need froncourt depth (heck a froncourt at all), if PG is a problem...you don't settle on a backup, you don't trade two expirings for a non-expiring (whose then team isn't really fond of him) and not get back at least one 1st round pick, and so on.

Nazr ended up being a decent trade but we REALLY should have gotten more as were probably the only team in the NBA able to take on his contract. And the Carroll contract was (Please Use More Appropriate Word)

Think that's bad, we could have had Kurt Thomas and 2 late 1st round draft picks... 8)

Not since we were the ones making the call. During the summer when they were shopping him, absolutely; I was wanting take him then and have DET throw in their 1st (Stuckey). As it stood the best we could have pulled was a future 2nd...and from the Pistons that ain't a lot to get upset about.

Dumars is tough. I'm actually glad we didn't get taken worse in the deal. Hopefully MJ checked his pockets afterward.

The "new car smell" sure is wearing off Nazzy pretty quickly!

Of course his mins have taken a hit so that might have more to do with it than anything.

1- The Kurt Thomas one sucks really bad (Sonics got solid play out of him AND THREE 1st round picks for dealing with him at all), but I don't count that because I don't really think Charlotte ever bothered listening to that one (too obvious it would've been a great fit).

2- I really think the Nazr move is the worst. Because most teams would've given up two garbage expirings for a guy like Nazr and a 1st. Charlotte gives up a guy who put some nasty numbers the year before when he finally got playing time and the "Slovenian Gangster" who wasn't that far removed from two pretty good seasons.

3- Matt wouldn't be so bad if they actually if they would actually give a consistent role on the team.

4- But my main problem has been moves like; Two 2nd round picks for Kareem Rush and 1 2nd round pick for Jumaine Jones (who was available a year earlier in the expansion draft). Or a move like waiting until Feb 9 <in the 2nd season> to trade Keith Bogans for Lonny Baxter (a much needed big man) in a season where the following happened; Sean May played 23 games, Okafor played 26 games, Wallace played 55, Melvin Ely played 57, Jake Voshkul played 51, and Primoz Brezec played 79.
Now with all that knowledge, shouldn't it have been obvious to maybe go get a big or two earlier on so that Wings wouldn't have to play the 4 and 5?

Well, if we could get Nazr for "THe Gangster" and Othella it would be a very good deal. I hate Vincent for how he destroyed players like Carroll and Herrmann. (from fantasy reasons too)

We are just talking about making our bad moves better. How about making some good moves? Why couldn't we grab Scola and/or Udrih from the Spurs for Herrmann, Brezec and two 2nd rounder. That would have been a good move ...

if we were able to get scola, then we'd have to keep walter.... getting me one step closer to my dream team of.....

pepe sanchez
manu
nocioni
scola
oberto

delfino
herrmann

i'd bet the argentina national team could make the playoffs in the east.... maybe even home court.

There is all kinds of moves like that, but that is a really bad miss. The trade was Jackie Butler ( a bigish contract for a guy who really didn't do anything) for Vassilis Spanoulis (a combo guard who really was just a contract) and a 2009 2nd. Thats not exactly a horrific trade (for Charlotte would've probably been a similar 2nd and maybe someone like Knight (the whole option to only pay him $1.5 mil) or someone like Hollins). For that we would've gotten a guy who currently averages about 10 pts and 6 rebounds while shooting over 50% as a PF. Gosh could we have used that?

Kurt Thomas and cap space got Seattle 3 1st round picks, solid play out of Kurt while he was there, and then Barry/Elson.

You could really research a lot of trades, and then you would drive yourself crazy.

Portland bought the 27th pick in the 2006 draft as well as the 24th pick in the 2007 draft. You mean to tell Charlotte couldn't have used either of those picks?
