What do you guys think?

I think that Eddy Curry isn't worth a lottery pick, let alone a top 10 pick.

Surely our 8th is for their lottery pick and Balkman with Curry in just to match salary.

Because of Okafor is expiring, I wouldn't do it even without a pick.

Unless there are some incredible players at the 8th pick that I've never heard of, this at least isn't as outrageous a deal as some have made it seem.

I don't know that I would do it, because I don't know much about Balkman (I thought he was supposed to be turning into a good player but it doesn't look like he's done much this year), and probably wouldn't want to worry with the headaches associated with Curry. Needless to say, I haven't been impressed with our team's ability to judge talent in the draft, so the 8th pick doesn't excite me much as some.

Sure it is. Curry is the antithesis of what our team has been built around. He's lazy and he doesn't even attempt to get into shape or try to get better over the summer. He also has an uninsurable heart problem.

Balkman is an energy player that has no skill.

You might not like what we've done with our picks, but if we're going to dump it let's at least move it for some value that doesn't hurt the team.

I'd almost rather just give the pick away.

Hence why I mentioned the headaches associated with Curry.

But it's not THAT awful, unless you really value our 8th pick, which again -- I don't.

its all about money on this one.... curry makes way too much for what he brings - lazy, awful defense, no rebounding etc....

How can you not value the #8? Last year it landed us a player the calibre of Swish.

This year you are willing to throw it away on a chump?

I think Brook Lopez would be pretty good at 8, if we can't get Mayo.

Lopez is NBA ready and has good post offense skills.

Yes, the 8th pick netted us Richardson, a 20ppg scorer. In this deal, the 8th pick would net us Curry, who was pretty damn close to a 20ppg scorer last year when he played big minutes.

As for Curry's deal, that's one of the main reasons I thought it wouldn't be so bad. If hoopshype is correct, his contract isn't outrageous, at least if he's producing like he did last year. His contract is as long as Mohammed's (except the final two years of Curry's deal are player options); he makes 8.9m this year, then 9.7m, then 10.5m and 11.2m (player options). If he's playing at a level like he did last year, that's not that bad of a contract for someone that can get you 20/7.

Curry is leagues worse than J-Rich. He probably the worst defender at his position getting minutes in the NBA. And he is overweight and has heart problems.

You'd be happy to pay that sort of coin to a C who averages that few boards and only a half a block a game?

And if you think that EO50 is a natual C and should play there, are you going to play Curry off the bench cause he sure as hell aint no PF!!

Curry == losing. He has to score 40+ to break even.
