I'm pretty surprised anyone put up the cash for a naming deal, with the team not doing as well, and the current economic situation.

Look into a little more and you'll see that it's not that simple.

oh I admit I know very little about this entire process (the Bobcats deal specifically)
Generally speaking though, I was surprised to see anyone making an arena naming deal right now.
Research indicates they have a fairly small impact per dollar spent, and are more of a "prestige" thing for corporations. Thats the kind of marketing outlay that gets cut back in a recession like this.

Wish they named it something that rolled off the tongue better...maybe Time Warner Cable Coliseum. Oh well.

The switch to FSN is IMMEDIATE

Per Bonnell, the game tonight (against Minnesota) will be televised on Fox Sports Net.

Per the release, Fox Sports South will televise the remaining games this season, and 70 games next season.

I put them as separate threads for a reason.
At least change the title to reflect what has happened today, ie, the name of the new arena, and that the games will be immediately switched to FSN, starting tonight.

Agreed. "Time Warner Cable Arena" isn't very sexy. I was hoping for something like the "Time Warner Digital Dome".

No need to have so many threads all about the same subject. We have that enough with other topics.

It's fine if the title was changed, which it since has been.
I can understand wanting to keep the discussion in one place, but I also see the need to update people on what has gone on today, not stick it in an old thread with an old title with information that is not up to date.
Thank you for changing your title.

I was in the process of changing the title but I had to merge the threads 1st. Can't do both at once. It's pretty cumbersome at times to do anything like this - but that's a whole new topic!!
Agreed that as info is made available the thread should be updated. It's a big day for Bobcats fans down in that neck of the woods who haven't been able to see their local sports team on local TV for 4 years. Hopefully this generates a lot more interest in the team.
I couldn't see any where how long the deal is for. Did you?

No.
It sounded like from the Q&A with Whitfield (on the Bobcats.com site) that there was also money involved, but he might have just been referring to the money that would be made now that the team has greater exposure due to the new TV deal.
