I'm a Hornets fan again

Post#1 » by CarolinaCash » Thu Apr 24, 2008 12:31 am

My new team is my old team.....I'm in love with the Hornets again. I was the biggest Hornets fan and was crushed when they left. People can trash George Shinn all they want but he always put a team on the floor that always was very competitive and fun to watch. Even after Alonzo and LJ left we still had very good teams with Glen Rice, Vlade Divac, Bobby Phills, Baron Davis, Anthony Mason, David Wesley, Eddie Jones, Geiger, Elden Campbell, Coleman, Eddie Robinson, Brad Miller, PJ Brown, Magloire, etc. The GM made awesome moves in drafting and free agent pickups. It was absolutely amazing to go to games during the playoffs.

My main reason of becoming a Hornets fan again is the draft pick that the Bobcats should have made if they didn't win stupid games at the end of the year or would have made a smart trade.......Chris Paul. They are still drafting well with pieces like David West being picked late in the 1st round. Terry Koffler, Gerry V, and Gil McGregor are still there and I want to be there too. Ric Flair still goes to games and his WOO!! is played after every made basket.

Call me a bandwagon fan if you must but I'm going back to my ex-girlfriend and my first love..........see you on the Hornets boards!!

Wow, that's so lame. Are you gonna come back here when the Hornets suck again and we're in the finals?

Not sure when that will happen... is CP3 going to get hit by a bus?

It's lame to drop the local team though.

Well unless NO looses its team to an Eastern city, CP3 will always be in the West. Even if he leaves NO, it will be a western team he goes to most likely.

Since I'm a /new/ fan of the Bobcats, I can't really claim I know **** about them, but it's lame to just totally switch sides.

This is the one thing about Shinn that I liked, he did put out a good team. The thing about Shinn is that the people in NO love him. He realized he did somethings wrongs here and he admits that. He has said that he has learned from his mistakes.

Having said this I will never go back to the Hornets. Bob Johnson needs to get his act together and spend some money and put out a good team. A lot of people are getting fed up with Bob Johnson. I have always wondered where we would be now if we had Larry Bird as our owner.

If you want to know where we'd be with Bird, check out his Pacers.

It looks like four more wins and eight more criminals.

in semi-defense of shinn.... it really was woolrigde who was the mastermind of the whole moving the team thing. shinn just got caught up in the snowball. woolridge really is the devil. shinn is just a P for not telling woolridge to go stick his head up his butt. there is no doubt in my mind that if woolridge never became part owner that the hornets would still be in charlotte.

in the flip side.... lets not pretend that shinn had anything to do with the hornets fielding a competitve team. that was all bob bass. anyone who followed the hornets knows that bob bass was an absolute genius and was the man who bailed the franchise out over and over by fleecing other teams with trades.

if the bobcats had bob bass running the team from day one instead of bernie, higgins and mj, i'd be willing to bet the bobcats would be better team today. bass was awesome.

I can't really see becoming a Hornets fan, again. Either you still are or you are no longer.

This kind of seems like going to back to a bad relationship, because you think they've changed.

Now whats really sad. The fact that the Hornets and Bobcats were both 18 win teams in 2004-05 and now the Hornets are as good as they are, while the Bobcats are still figuring it out.

This is the exact type of post of the typical Charlotte.com poster/fan I was referring....

What do you mean by that? I have never posted or even visited their message boards.

No, but would you be able to tell me the last All-Star the Hornets kept and paid? Oh that's right, they've never done that ever. Even if they do give Paul his extension, what happens when West wants his big payday? They'd never pay all those guy that much money, so they'll get rid of one or two which will make them less competitive.... then nobody will come to see them again, then they'll be losing money, then Shinn will want to move to Vegas or start a fire sale. It's the way that franchise is always gonna be until someone new owns it.

The nice thing about following the Bobcats is that at least I know they'll pay their players when it comes time (Wallace and Carroll). I think once Bob Johnson gets a taste of the success winning brings he'll be sure to keep it rolling in. It turns a loss into a break even or even a profit which is what he's been after since buying the Bobcats.

Rich, what about the Peja signing? They actually got some heat for spending TOO MUCH for him. I think that once Shinn had more secure finances in order he was willing to spend some money. The bugs had some really sweet deals with NO & then OK.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

they actually re-signed baron to a long deal after moving to NO. they traded him the following year.

but while in charlotte the team did not re-sign like 24 straight free agents. some good moves, some bad... most of the bad ones, bass made up for by being a genius and working out s&t deals that eventually favored the hornets.

That will look good for maybe another year till his back gives way. They're gonna have to pay David West and Chris Paul and I'd be willing to bet they don't resign both and keep Peja and Tyson.

Hm, so if they keep him and he sucks, they lose, but if they don't keep him, they're cheap losers.

There is a zero percent chance that the Hornets do not offer Chris Paul the max as soon as it is humanly possible. If they let West walk, which is unthinkably stupid but at least remotely possible, then you will be proven right forever.

Ok, BANDWAGON FAN!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely sickening...i'm not becoming a Magic fan again because they're in the playoffs and the Bobcats aren't. Nobody said that being a fan of a basically new NBA team would be easy and I think it's piss poor that you'd

1) switch over to another team because we're not doing so well

and

2) Arrogantly make a post saying your announcement like you're some big loss to the Bobcats fandom!

Screw you man...enjoy your new team Judas.

I mean, I kinda follow the Wiz and since the first game against Philly in Charlotte I've been keen on the 6ers (plus Philly is a nice city), but whatever. I'd say Cash's only fault was making a thread about this on the board instead of just starting to post on the Hornets board, but I've avoided typing anything until now. Wow Dan...

Return to Charlotte Hornets
