So Larry Brown resigned this afternoon and this is what the Sixers' President/GM had to say about it:

I'm surprised this hasn't gotten more attention.
You would think if he resigned, he would already have something in place.
Are there any other job positions up in the air? I think I read about Chicago.
Hmm, interesting.

Chicago, New York (not going after LB), possibly Miami.
Memphis is in the same spot as us.
I think LB has his best shot at winning in Charlotte rather than Chicago, who has yet to resolve Gordon/Deng issue.

I wonder if he could be brought in under the guise as being an assistant to Vincent - just to help him out?
Or do you think it's a head coach only position that Brown would want?

Who'd want to assist an idiot?

I guess it would all be in how they would spin it.
Assist/mentor/save.........
That way Brown can't loose. If he can help guide us straight and we make the playoffs after a 45+ wion season, Vincent becomes the coach of the year ala Smitch a few years back and Brown is known as the saviour. Rep is polished after the NYK fiasco and he walks away happy.
If we still bomb, it all gets heaped on Vincent.

So long as the head coach (Vincent) doesn't say anything, has no authority and brings the assistant (Brown) coffee every time he wants it I'd guess Larry would be ok with that scenario.
