If someone offered a trade...

I was just doing some snooping on the Heat and Sonics boards and came upon a little gem. Seems like one of their posters want Meka real bad. His offer was: Chris Wilcox, J Petro, D Marshall, # 24 pick, # 32 pick, and 2009 San Antonio 1st rounder- STRAIGHT UP for Emeka Okafor in a S & T deal.

The old quality for quantity game. I don't know much about Petro or Marshall, so I'm at a loss to know what to think. Thumbs up or thumbs down? Guys?

Wow... three late first rounders, a young big, and Wilcox... I'm really not thrilled because I don't like quantity for quality, but it's not that bad of value.

the deal would have to be made long after the draft meaning we'd have no real input on the picks this year.

I'd do:

EO50

for

The Sonics 2008 1st round pick (top 2 protected), Wilcox and Marshell

Hell no to any of these deals. I'm not even sure I'd do Okafor for Durrant. We need to keep Okafor unless we're replacing him with a Chris Bosh, Amare Stoudamire, or Carlos Boozer type of PF/C.

How did Hamilton figure out how to sign in under Rich's name?

NO to any quantity over quality (but as Paydro said that ain't too bad)...we have plenty of "quantity" guys. If Seattle wants him bad enough they'd do Slam's deal.

Agreed! Good god, that would be amazing... and therefore will never happen.

Since we're throwing out trades...

Portland/Charlotte

On the 2nd page:

Telfaire wrote:Anyway, here's a more likely deal:

Frye, Jack and rights to Jordan/McGee for Harrington and the rights to Westbrook.

Bobcats get a backup combo guard in Jack, another bigman in Frye and a project at center. Even with both May and Okafor injured, they'll have decent depth upfront.

Blazers give away two expendables for an expiring contract and Best Attainable Fit from the draft, in Westbrook.

Not too bad? How high are we on that 8th pick? This would give us decent depth.

Whoa.... I could not be more on board for that one. I mean, Westbrook is good or whatever, but that's crazy value, we'd have to take it.

But why would portland do that?

Thanks, guys. This helps me decide that what we have is a very good thing. Although, with Larry Brown coming in, we may see one of our core traded away to get some holes filled. I just hope that 'Meka is not the one traded. What he gives this team, very few in the NBA can duplicate. And maybe the new regime can help 'Meka on the offensive end a little bit, too.

Remember, Bernie never did carry a great big man coach, and the one Vincent brought in hasn't really impressed me. Things are looking up.

That's because I'm working with the mindset that Okafor from 2006-2007 is hiding inside of Okafor from 2007-2008. Defensively, he's one of the best out there and not easy at all to replace. I also believe he was held back significantly by our coach meaning he could've at least reproduced what he gave us in 06-07 if not build on that and get better.
