larry brown: bobcats new coach (merged)

Post#1 » by CarolinaCash » Sat Apr 26, 2008 3:57 am

http://www.charlotte.com/bobcats/story/596890.html

My Hornets lost tonight so if Larry Brown coaches the Bobcats I may be receptive in coming back to the Bobcats

A couple of key quotes:

The source, who requested anonymity because of the sensitivity of the subject, said Brown had not been contacted by the Bobcats. However, there were other signs the Bobcats are at least curious. Two sources said shortly after Brown resigned as executive vice president with the Philadelphia 76ers Thursday, a Bobcats employee contacted the 76ers for biographical information on Brown.

"I've got to figure out if I can get a coaching job,'' Brown told the Philadelphia Inquirer this month. "I want to get back so bad. I'm bored."

Brown was linked to the Stanford opening earlier this week, but subsequent reports say he took himself out the running. Brown lives in Philadelphia with his wife and two children.

Sources indicate Vincent did not fare particularly well when the players were asked about his performance in season-ending interviews with the front office.

I swear to god, if I were the GM, I would fire Vincent on the spot, on no better information than this article. I'm not the biggest Larry Brown fan, but JESUS!

It seems like there would be more to this. I can't imagine why Brown would resign, if he didn't already have a good idea that he would immediately be offered a head coaching position elsewhere.

We'll have to let it play out a few more days I guess, but I like where it seems to be going so far.

This is really pitiful of me.

But if this happens, I'm happier to be rid of Vincent than gaining a HOF coach.

How screwed up is that?

What can Brown do for you? Win

A source told me that Michael Jordan decided last week to fire Sam Vincent. Vincent might grow up to be a successful NBA coach but he wasn't last season. A young team and an inexperienced coach turned out to be an unfortunate combination.

Oh happy day!!!

Michael Jordan is a genius......he couldn't get his man Larry Brown last year so he hired a sorry azz coach for one year so he could bring Brown in this year.

If the Bobcats get Larry Brown they need to find another way to do a JRich type draft deal. The Bobcats would need to win now and Brown usually isn't to big on rookies. Adam Morrison may not play enough defense to get in games with Brown so maybe packaging the pick and Morrison for a veteran PG or big man.

Brown will love Jared Dudly, he will make Okafor better, he will make Felton better, and he will love Wallace.

Bobcats next head coach

Post#9 » by Rich4114 » Sat Apr 26, 2008 2:37 pm

Let the debate begin on this glorious Saturday morning!

Larry Brown seems to be the most likely right now, but he is kinda old (67).

Rick Carlisle, Jeff Van Gundy, Paul Silas, perhaps Avery Johnson and Sam Mitchell. What does the majority want? No way do they go after another NBDL reach. I'd be happy with most guys on this list, especially after being burned by Sam. Larry Brown would absolutely make this a playoff team in the east.

Kudos to the Bobcats for doing the right thing for the team. I wasn't sure Jordan would do it since he's friends with the guy, but these are the types of decisions they're gonna need to make in order for this team to win - and that's supposed to be priority #1 over all others.

My order: Larry Brown , Larry Brown, Larry Brown, and then .............Carlisle, Van Gundy, Johnson, and Mitchell. I think we need a very good X's and O's coach and Silas isn't one.

If we really hire LB then my faith in this team might just be restored again. We'd finally have someone on our side who knows WTF they are doing. Finally some direction and a teacher for our players who always look so lost and untaught.

If this comes to pass I will have to put a call back in to the Bobcats and renew my canceled season tickets.

Just the thought of a decent coach coaching the Bobcats makes me salivate.

Brown is a no brainer. He can turn this team around, and quickly. The time off from coaching will have him hungry to win.

Bring in brown along with a young up-start coach as an assistant to groom as Browns eventual successor when retires 3-4 years from now.

Lets not forget the possibility of D'Antoni. I think it would be horrible if he were fired, but I'd prefer him to Brown, even.

Don't forget Tom Thibodeau, our current assistant coach.

I'd take D'Antoni over Brown too if he's available. His system fits our players perfectly.

But if he's not available, maybe Brown is my #1 right now too. But I agree, taking on an assistant he can pass the reigns along to would be nice and convenient.

Truehoop says that Larry Brown resigned to coach the Bobcats, and that its a done deal.....looks like a deal was in place all along, and Brown's resignation and Vincent's firing were not a coincidence.
