CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Charlotte Bobcats have fired coach Sam Vincent after one season.
The team announced the move Saturday. The fourth-year franchise had hoped to make the playoffs for the first time this season. But the Bobcats went 32-50, and that put Vincent's job in jeopardy.
Part-owner Michael Jordan had taken a gamble in hiring Vincent. Vincent had never been an NBA head coach and had spent just one year in the league as an assistant.

Another MJ's failure.

fatlever.....Sam's done in the NBA for a while. He will have to go to Turkey or Saudi Arabia.

I'm glad SV is gone, but these players should be held accountable for their own pathetic play, especially Okafor. He was non-existent through the first 40 games.

WoooHOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!
This is the best news I've heard about this team all year. I was not looking forward to next season at all. Very close to the point of apathy.

I'd say Larry Brown is more likely than Mike D'antoni.
BTW, did anyone think hiring an unproven coach with no NBA head coaching experience would be the move the Bobcats needed to make the playoffs?

The timing of Brown's resignation from Philly makes it almost a certainty that he gets the Charlotte job.

I don't really blame Vincent for his season. He is a perfect example of someone being offered a gig before they were ready.
Vincent didn't really have that much experience. The "no experience needed" head coach seemed to be the "in thing" this year. What with Vincent, Iavaroni, and Krystowiak (and possibly others) all getting head gigs.
Brown as the 3rd ever head coach seems too obvious. But I would still prefer someone like Jeff Van Gundy.
But I guess you could do worse then a top notch (But crazy) head coach with a championship ring.

thats too funny paydro.
today is shaping up to be a great day. i woke up at 7:45 to watch the chelsea man u game and chelsea won. hell yeah. then i check here and see sam is gone. then i went to pay per view and watched the movie "hot rod" with andy samberg, which i was expecting to be terrible and i actually was dying laughing. when he gave his old man the "poop your pants" punch at the end, i almost did the same. hopefully later in the day i will find out that the panthers traded for adrian peterson.
i gotta go... olivia munn is standing naked on my front porch holding a steaming hot box..................... of pizza.

I don't think a single person on this board thought that, which is why I never understood why they hired him in the first place. Good to see them fix their mistakes.
