Bobcats War Room - 2008 Draft - Pick # 10

Now we are headed into "not very lucky" or trade down territory. This may actually be more our cup of tea, because of the chances of getting a veteran player too. (That was for you, Hamilton!)

There is a problem, however. We are getting into an area where more shooting guards and small forwards will be picked. However, I am personally looking at this as a "needs" draft. If I reach.....well, I reach!
I think that the Bobcats' needs have been pretty much defined and redefined along the "backup" PG and "strong" Power Forward who can back up 'Meka at Center. And unless we trade Crash (disclaimer- this is NOT a suggestion), we don't need a small forward. :nonono: :nonono:

Last night, we selected the Point Guard most similar to Muggsy Bogues in this draft, D. J. Augustin of Texas. Other players off the board tonight include: Michael Beasley, Derrick Rose, O. J. Mayo, Blake Griffin, Jerryd Bayless, Brook Lopez, Kevin Love, and Anthony Randolph.

A note here: If you guys don't mind, I'm tabling Danillo Gallinari for a little while. He's a small forward (see above), and as memory serves, has not received votes yet. If I get any requests to, I'll put him back soon.

And now, it is time to vote. 24 hours. Vote your guy. May the best one be a Bobcat!

By this year's standards, this may be reaching. However, I am voting for last year's # 6 poll pick at # 10. Roy Hibbert. Man in the middle. No one is looking for him to come off for at least five more picks.

His numbers were down this year over last, but let's look at Georgetown a little deeper. No Green = More doubling on Hibbert. What do we learn from this? He is not a guy who can carry a team by himself. Am I worried about this? No. I don't expect him to be Patrick Ewing, SR. Given weapons around him, he will blossom. Again.

Of course, my thinking is clouded by having (potentially) Larry Brown coaching these young men. Quality coaching will trump anything we have put on the floor to date.

I am biased. I admit that. Feel free to disagree!

Claw on!

Westbrook. Once he's off of the board, I'm not sure who I'll pick because we'll have Larry Brown as our coach by then and that'll change my decision making a little bit. For now, easy pick. Westbrook.

Eric Gordon still available at 10? I'd take him.
