Bobcats War Room - 2008 Draft - Pick #14

We have now restored order to the various Mock Drafts by selecting Danillo Gallinari, Small Forward of Italy as our 13th man on the draft board! Without any doubt. Others selected earlier- Michael Beasley, Derrick Rose, Jerryd Bayless, Brook Lopez, O. J. Mayo, Eric Gordon, Kevin Love, Anthony Randolph, DeAndre Jordan, D. J. Augustin, Russell Westbrook, and Darrell Arthur.

We now select our last of the lottery. Of the nine players to choose from tonight, we have 3 guys at positions that we feel pretty secure with, and really don't need to draft. That leaves 6 guys who can play the power forward or at center. This seems to be a void area for point guard candidates, but I hope that we have picked a point by now if that's what falls to us.

So, the Bobcat Primary continues. May you select a great player for us! Sharpen those claws! 24 Hours before the polls close- both here and maybe a little earlier at your local voting precinct. Please cast ballots in both places.

Maybe I did rate Hibbert a little too highly. Still believing that we trade for our point guard and draft bigs in this draft, I shift to the "highest rated" center still left - Yes, above Hibbert! Tonight, I shift to

JaVale McGee

I know nothing about his game. I know plenty about Hibbert. That said, look at the physical facts about McGee. A 7 footer. 237 pounds. Needs to bulk up some, but won't get pushed around either. A full 35 pounds lighter than Hibbert, so if we want to run, maybe this guy facilitates! At any rate, he is the second most physically imposing guy of this group of players.

But is he offense minded or, like Okafor a defensive stopper? Can he lead? Does he shoot free throws, or bricks? Don't need "Hacka Insert Name Here!", whoever we draft as a big.

Hold the nose, and take the plunge!

I voted McGee. This is a point of major dropoff for me, I don't really like any of these targets, but he's pretty highly regarded and he's a big man. I would be basically devastated to draft him or anyone below him with our first pick, unless we got something really nice in return.

Time is WAY up.

First, an explanation of my absence. In an earlier thread, I alluded to my wife's recent hospitalization. When she was discharged after surgery, she had a machine tagging along with her. Well after almost 6 weeks, the machine is on its way back to the medical supply house! Note to self: We gotta stop doing this hospital thing! Anyway, the light at the end of the tunnel seems to be light and not train.

Now, back to unfinished business. We have a tie. Heads- McGee, Tails-Speights. Three flips.

Flip One - Heads
Flip Two - Heads
Flip Three - Not Needed, But Heads Anyway.

So JaVale McGee concludes our lottery picks.
New thread shortly.
