Carmelo Anthony???

Denver Post -
The Nuggets have made no indication that they will actively shop Carmelo Anthony, but they will listen to offers, according to the Denver Post.
Because of his off the court problems and the luxury tax, Denver may be inclined to see what sort of package Anthony would yield.
Would MJ pull the trigger??????

Why would we want him?

I the nuggets are having a Melo fire-sale we should definitely be interested. Especially if we could get him without losing Crash/Jrich/Mek

I would offer Crash and our #1 pick

My point is you buy low with Melo now. MJ could help him get his mojo back. Larry was able to get to AI, maybe AI could tell him to listen to Larry. Getting Melo and Camby would give Larry something he would want. Having to get rid of Crash, Morrison, Mouhammed, and a 1st for a proven scorer and a great defender would be a good idea. Maybe you could change it around several different ways. If you want to keep JRich/Crash/Meka, you may not get Melo. Giving up one may be the only way to get Melo. Fans from B-More area would possibly be interested in the Bobcats. Fan attraction would be a goal in going through with this deal.

There is no way we get Melo without giving some combination of EO/Crash/JRich or one of them and 8000 first round picks.
As much as he could bring to the team it would gut the core of a team not far from the playoffs.

I would offer a Sausage McMuffin and our #32 pick.
Maybe i'll throw in a 20 pack of #2 Pencils as well. Depends on how my day goes.

Some of you people are CRAZY.....I suggested on the main forum a week or so ago I thought MJ would go after 'Melo cuz he is the Team Jordan spokesperson and you say why would we want him?! As opposed to what we have now why would we NOT want him?!!!
Be honest w/ ourselves bobcats fans what we have now isnt very good....other than JRich we have no proven NBA talent.....Gerald is a helluva a player but his numbers have come on a team that was an expansion team when he got here and hasnt been very good since......'Melo would bring a offensive presence this team has never had especially if you can get him & keep JRich, if you thinking there would be a significant dropoff your a fool how much of a dropoff can you have on a team thats been in the lottery every year? no way in hell with Melo & JRich would we be the worst team in the East.....Plus he would do the #1 thing that MJ & Bobcat Johnson want right now and thats put asses in seats and get the Bobcats some national exposure(with Melo on board and LB coaching you know we would get a few nationally televised games) so I say hell yeah trade anybody short of JRich it would take to get him.....If the Hawks could get in the playoffs w/ a team primarily based around JJ & JSmith then a team with Melo & JRich would definitely compete in the East.......especially with Larry Brown coaching them up to "play the right way"
Emeka wants a big contract to be a pretty good player, Felton hasnt been able to take over as the starting PG in 3 years, and while I love Gerald on a true championship contender Im not 100% sure he would be one of the top 3 scorers he would be the ultimate role player but you would rather keep them than get one the best young players in the NBA(what is he like 23-24?) with a great upside that has had his team in the playoffs in the WEST since his rookie year but you would rather hold on the guys that havent even been able to crack the top 8 in the East but Gerald just got a big payday, Emeka wants one and Felton is coming up for one what the hell is the logic......

Where is it shown that we are not far from the playoffs this is supposedly the best and most talented team we have put on the floor yet...Emeka played the whole year, Gerald was fairly healthy until late in the year but we actually won less games then last year and played with less heart and dont blame the whole damn season on Sam Vincent he didnt log 1 minute of playing time.... other teams are gettin better....tell me how if Miami gets Rose or Beasley & keeps Marion we are not the worst team in our division(speak as a true basketball fan and not a bobcats homer plz)

I'll take that as an joke noway you could have been serious.....someone with Adam Morrison as his avatar/pic saying he would offer #2 pencils for Carmelo F'n Anthony?!! If you were serious no real need to respond that already show me your basketball knowledge in that one statement

gwall and our 1st- and I am in. I don't want to lose wallace- but we are talking about a 26-30 ppg guy- who can dominate games.
a team of---
okafor
anthony
jrich
nazr
felton
with carroll/ammo/dudley off the bench=
can win the division and compete every year.

Seeing as how only 3 of those 8 players you listed play at least average defense (and only 2 are starters) I kind of doubt that's a division winner.
But offense wins titles right?

okafor-howard
lewis-anthony
hedo-nazr
nelson-felton
evans-jrich
seems like a toss-up on defense at worst.
defense wins championships- only when you have superstar talent. we don't have it. You can be as good as you want on the defensive end, but without a legitimate superstar you wind up as the mid 90's cavs under fratello- mediocre.
If you don't think anthony is a legit superstar fine- but he is a lot closer to it than wallace ( and I love wallace)

melo isnt exactly the type of player that i would prefer to build around... that being said...
i'd probably be willing to part with crash and our first round pick + filler to land melo. melo is a legit #1 option, who is just now entering the prime of his career.
as for defense... i refuse to believe that someone as talented as melo cant become an average defender. its really hard to evaluate someone's defense when they play for a coach who isnt asking the players to focus on defense. you dont need 5 great individual defenders to be a good defensive team. you need maybe two great defenders, a great team defensive concept, and players who are willing.

Who would be the two "great" defenders? Hell, where's the ONE great defender on that squad?
If all it took was Crash and this year's first I'd probably do it (IMO it'd take more), but the roster would need to be seriously revamped in order for it to get anywhere past the 1st round.
On paper we might match up well with Orlando but Detroit is sure looking pretty darn mean against them...with their defense!!! Besides, Howard is Orlando's defense and unless Mek bounces back we don't have an answer. He beat us this season...not their other guys.

agreed it would probably take more to get melo and i doubt i would give up more as i said earlier, he's not the type of guy i would perfer to build around, but...............
i consider okafor a great defender. i think dudley and felton are both very good defenders.
regardless, its not about adding melo to our current squad and overnight becoming a contender. its about jumping on a chance to land a superstar. so maybe we have to tweak the roster for a few years in order to get the perfect balance. ok.
anyway, i cant see them trading melo yet.

What about Jose Calderon? He may be available and seems like a point guard Larry Brown would like. Would you trade Wallace for Calderon or even Wallace and Felton for Calderon and Bargs or AParker?
Calderon
JRich
Morrison or Carroll or Dudley
Bargs/May
Okafor/Nazr

Okafor is probably our best defender. It's easy to say Wallace because he jumps the passing lanes for steals and can block shots, but I'd really like to see him be a better on ball defender, just making shots difficult for guys to get off rather than his defense just being gambling. Because what doesn't show up in the stat book is when he gambles and doesn't come up with the steal or block. I think Larry Brown is the type of coach he needs to fix that if we're going to keep him.
Felton is a good on ball defender and he doesn't really gamble, I think he'll get better defensively in the new system. Playing SG probably helped him become a stronger defender going against guys who were bigger all the time, so maybe something good will come out of that. Dudley could be our future defensive stopper, ala Bruce Bowen or something. For a rookie, he was great and one can only assume he'll get better. That's why I'd hate to ever trade him because those guys are a tough find. J-Rich is probably a mediocre defender but he can get up there and block shots. Nazr is pretty good too. I mean we've got guys on this team who can play defense, it's about having them all work together, back eachother work, and buy into the whole team defense concept which is what you need a good coach for.
Defense does win championships, and I agree with powerfoward but what makes you think J-Rich can't be our superstar? If he plays the whole season like he did the second half of 07-08 then I'm cool with that!
