Bobcats War Room - 2008 Draft - Pick #18

Post#1 » by August Us Seazr » Mon May 12, 2008 2:35 am

Aren't mock drafts fun? They get you drooling over who is the best at whatever position, and you just imagine your team getting a top guy at his position. That is, if you are a lottery team. If you make the playoffs regularly, which is where WE want the team to be, you are looking for that potentially great player that slips out of the lottery.

We need to train ourselves to look for this kind of player. Someone who fits our general needs, but brings something to the table that we currently lack. (Boy, that sounds like a good thread, doesn't it?) This year, our needs are fairly clear. Next year, maybe not so much.

But consider for a moment that next year, 18 might be a realistic position for us in the draft. So look at this as practice for then. Or, you can look at it as "if we trade with Washington, and swap picks, who do we take here?"

Out of play tonight are: Michael Beasley, Derrick Rose, Jerryd Bayless, Brook Lopez, O. J. Mayo, Danillo Gallinari, Eric Gordon, Kevin Love, Anthony Randolph, D. J. Augustin, Russell Westbrook, DeAndre Jordan, Donte Greene (our winner at Pick # 17), JaVale McGee, Roy Hibbert, Marreese Speights, and Darrell Arthur.

In play are 9 more of the players who the mocks more or less think will be available at this spot. Are there superstars here? Maybe or maybe not. But there are probably some good pros here, as well as journeymen, and probably a few busts too. (DO NOT select a bust! :nonono:  Unless its the kind of guy that after he retires from the Bobcats, the team decides to place a bust of him in the arena. That kind I'd like. ) Get one with heart, get one with soul, get one within 24 hours--and claw on!

Well I'll be a tie-died flounder! We're going with neckwear again. :nonono: :banghead: :nonono:

Tonight's tiebreaker is a reverse raffle drawing. (Last slip out wins.) Two Ajinca slips and two Lopez slips.........

First draw-Ajinca
Second draw-Lopez
Third draw-Lopez----which means that Alexis Ajinca is the last slip in the hat- and our winner.

Next thread shortly.

Paydro speaks the truth. And tiebreaker must be replayed. Hmmm.
Getting extra slips ready. Hold your breath, guys. This will take a little longer to pull 6 slips!

First Pull- Ajinca
Second Pull- Robin Lopez
Third Pull- Batum
Fourth Pull- Ajinca - Eliminated
Fifth Pull- Batum - Eliminated
Winner- Robin Lopez - 7 Foot Center/Power Forward- Stanford is our winner.

You guys must like to see an old bald guy sweat!

New thread in a few. Thank you for voting. Especially that late voter for Batum. I have no problem with late voting, as long as I haven't posted results. Phwew!
