wow we need to search phillyburbs and the Boston Observer for articles on our team. Do Charlotte papers still cover the cats?

Only to complain about how sucky the franchise is Sam, that's when Charlotte papers cover the Bobcats. Or when something big happens, they'll put an article out there that the AP had first.

Mays' rehab? You'll probably have to read a Dallas paper for that.

Good for Morrison, I really hope he gets an oppurtunity to prove so many wrong. Same goes for Larry.

Dallas, Denver, or maybe Seattle.

You would think that some of the other papers, say the N&O in Raleigh, or The State in Columbia would have something to say. But those two papers are owned by the McClatchy Group, who coincidentally own the Charlotte Observer... so no such luck.

I can see why you guys complain. The N&O has just about quit sending reporters to Charlotte. They just recycle Bonnell. Sux, don't it?

As an outsider, I'm looking forward to a healthy Morrison returning, and putting up good numbers. While he's not flashy, I still like his game, and he's going to be needed for Charlotte to make a strong push at the playoffs. GL

If we can get either a healthy May or Morrison coming back this season (if not both) then we're automatically a better team. We lacked shooting and rebounding, something these guys can bring us.

If anyone's going to make Ammo into a respectable team defender it'll be Larry. As for May's talent, there's no question it's just all based on his health and conditioning. For Ammo I think he'll probably be stronger and as long as he can still score like he's always been able to then we'll be money. There'll be way less pressure on Ammo this next season.

Unless Ammo shoots much, much better from the field, AND improves his defense, then adding him will not make us a better team. Much as cutting McInnis was addition by subtraction, so too might Ammo be if he plays like he did his rookie year. But hey, maybe he will be better, and we can make use of him as a role player.

Do people expect from a ROOKIE!??? I can't believe people have given up on Morrison, ALREADY calling him a bust even though he's only played ONE season.

From a #3 pick, who was 22, who was supposedly very NBA-ready? I expect a competent NBA player. Perhaps a performance similar to Al Thornton, another older, finished-product type of player. Thornton didn't shoot very well, and his defense wasn't very good either, but he was at least competent. He played above replacement-level, and did a few things pretty well.

Adam Morrison did literally nothing well in his rookie season. It was an unqualified disaster on every front... rebounding, defense, shooting, turnovers... he was among the league's worst players by any measure, and was actually THE worst player by win shares (mostly because he played much more than the average terrible player).

It's easy to write that off as a bad rookie year, but it was beyond bad, it put him in a special category of terrible rookie seasons. Bargnani this year, for instance, which has led to all the "Bustnani" comments, was drastically better than Morrison's rookie season, and Bargnani is still younger than Ammo was that year.

So now we have Ammo back another year older, coming off of major knee surgery, and his only playing time has been among the worst in the league. I don't know how much worse this can be.

Say what you will, but being the #3 pick in the 06' draft means he is going to get more chances to contribute and I'll be surprised if he isn't at least an asset in the rotation for us.

I've seen what he's done in college and he was horrible in the NBA his first year. I'm not 100% sure what it was but that one game against the T-Wolves last year always comes to mind to me as to what I wish we could see from Ammo many nights. That was just awesome and if he can do anything like that again where he litterally took over and put us on his back to win the game then I'm a happy camper.

I'm not saying he will do it, but he clearly has the potential and physical abilities to do it.

I obviously HOPE so, because it would mean a lot to at least get something out of that #3 pick. I would never have predicted him to have such a disastrous career; I was firmly against him (literally I thought ANYONE over him) but he's disappointed even my low expectations.

I think he can become a decent rotation player... Luke Walton is probably the best comparison, perhaps even as good as Wally Sczcerbiak.

I was originally a big fan of Rudy Gay out of that draft class but ended up being good with either him or Ammo. Obviously Gay was the better choice so far. We'll see what happens, but it will be excellent if Ammo becomes what we hoped he'd be when we drafted him. Keep in mind though his career has so far been one year, let's give him a shot.

do you guys think that sitting and watching for a year gave ammo a different perspective on the nba and basketball in general? while certainly he couldnt work on his physical skills last year, i wonder if he learned alot about watching the nba from the sidelines... much how a rookie QB can learn from watching a vet QB for a year. plus maybe he gained a deeper appreciation for where he is and what it will take to succeed.

If he had any sort of brain power, he would've spent the entire year listening to Michael Jordan talk about all the adjustments he had to make to his game over the years.

But yeah, I think a year of watching probably did change his view on some things.

What I've often wondered about why people were so hard on Ammo; The guy only started 23 games in his rookie year, yet played almost 30 minutes a game. How can you really figure out your role doing that?

For god sakes, it was the year of no consistency;
May added 35 games to his career total, Okafor played 67, Knight played 45, Felton was a "Shooting guard", the eventual pickups of Derek Anderson and Jeff McInnis, Hermanns late start (although not his fault), and the franchise was really starting to see how useless Primoz Brezec really was.

Not to mention Ammo had to deal with Wallace continuing to become a force and Matt Carroll having one hell of a 2nd full season with the franchise.

I think the only real guy that really HAS TO make it or break it this season is Sean May...and I just don't think it will happen.
I'll be honest, I expect Sean to play 20-30 games be pretty good and then go down again. Then watch the team shop him as an expiring cotract and finally move on.

I just expect May to become a "whatever happened to_____?"

But I don't blame the Bobcats for taking him. Fran Vasquez has yet to play an NBA game, Yaroslav Korolez sucked, Antonie Wright and Joey Graham are fringe players, Green is techincally out of the league, Julius Hodge is, and all that is just in the 11th through 20th picks. Draft got better after that and was better before.
And to gloat, I thought the Bobcats should trade down from the 13th pick to Denver for 20 and 22.

i cant fault the bobcats for selecting may, once they made the decision to keep the picks. like most, i got caught up gerald green hype, but look where that ended. in reality, may was the second most talented player in that 10-20 range, behind only danny granger. may has david west type talent. while the bobcats and other teams may have known may was a high risk player due to his weight, i dont think anyone could have known his knee was so bad. i cant fault the team for taking a chance on a big man with such great offensive tools at 13.
