2008 NBA Draft prospect comparisons

Post#1 » by CarolinaCash » Wed May 21, 2008 2:27 am

Tell me who you guys think will be a better pro......

Joe Alexander or Adam Morrison

DJ Augustin or Mike Conley Jr.

Kevin Love or Andrew Bogut

Russell Westbrook or Kirk Hinrich

Jerryd Bayless or Monta Ellis

Derrick Rose or Deron Williams

Donte Greene or Gerald Wallace

OJ Mayo or JRich

Eric Gordon or Raymond Felton

I'm not comparing these players and saying they have similar games....just asking who will have a better NBA career.

ammo
dj
tie - i have a gut feeling skiles makes bogut a much better player and features him a bit more after taking the shots away from gunner 1a redd and 1b williams in the backcourt.
hinrich
ellis
deron by a hair.
wallace
tie
felton

as you can see, i lean towards the proven players.

I would go with......

Alexander....I really love his game and think he's better than Morrison in every category. I don't think Morrison can shoot the open 3....he needs to toss in runners.

DJ.....I really think DJ will be the 3rd best player in this draft. I think Conley Jr. will be a serviceable player but nothing special.

Love.....I also like Love a lot. I like Bogut too but think Love will put up more points.

Westbrook......future star.

Ellis.....honestly don't know anything about Bayless

Derrick Rose......by a hair because of his speed.

Wallace......I like the potential in Greene but it may go untapped.

JRich....I think JRich has been underrated his whole career.....don't think Mayo will average 20 in this league.

Felton...by default cause i think Gordon is a punk.

yeah, i really dont know much about bayless either. he seems to remind me more of antonio daniels than gilbert arenas. but what do i know. i'd take ellis 100 times out of 100.

as for jrich and mayo, i said tie due to mayo's seemingly better defense and playmaking skills. i think those will offset jrichs superior scoring. no knock on jrich. i think mayo will be a solid complementary player, a borderline all-star in his prime, like jrich.

wouldnt that be classic of the bucks drafted love to pair with yi and bogut. that would crack me up.

fat did you see Bonnell's blogs today? In one of them he said Larry Brown will try to get Eric Snow as an assistant coach but Paxson may interview him to become head coach in Chicago. He also said his hunch is that the Bobcats will draft DJ Augustin. He said Higgins was pretty forthcoming and said that they need another point guard to complement Felton and another big man.

never liked snow as a player. thought he was boring as hell to watch... seems like the kind of player that would make an excellent coach. dude that hung in the league because he was smarter and tougher than everyone else. however, if he brings in snow, where does that leave his boy phil ford? is there room for two pg coaches?

hmmm... interesting about dj. i know slam will be thrilled. i'm not too particularly thrilled about using a top 10 pick on a guy who will be a backup for at least 2 years. i'd much rather snag a solid backup pg in FA.

that being said, dj is a player, so i could live with it.

Higgins also said that if the team drafts a shooting guard or a wing then figure a trade is in the works.

Also, Fats I don't think if they draft Augustin he would be a backup for long. He will be Larry Brown's floor general.

You guys are being pretty generous with these rookies...I don't see Eric Gordon being that good at all. Alexander will be less of a roleplayer than Morrison.

I don't see Raymond Felton being that good at all and I didn't realize what Morrison did in 07 was filling a role...

Eric Gordon is really good and Alexander is twice the athlete Morrison is. There's a whole internet outside of the plethora of Gonzaga and UNC highlights floating around...

Joe Alexander or Adam Morrison - he has more dimensions to his game

DJ Augustin or Mike Conley Jr. - he is a better shooter

Kevin Love or Andrew Bogut - better size

Russell Westbrook or Kirk Hinrich- he's more explosive

Jerryd Bayless or Monta Ellis - more control

Derrick Rose or Deron Williams - Better in the half court and plays with more control

Donte Greene or Gerald Wallace - Crash by a mile. Greene is a shot-a-holic and kills his own team on offense a lot of the time

OJ Mayo or JRich - better D, handles and passing

Eric Gordon or Raymond Felton - Gordon is an undersized SG with little to no PG skills

Joe Alexander or Adam Morrison

DJ Augustin or Mike Conley Jr.

Kevin Love or Andrew Bogut

Russell Westbrook

Jerryd Bayless or Monta Ellis- not even close to me

Derrick Rose or Deron Williams - I know everyone's drinking the Rose koolaid right now, but look at what Deron's done so far and tell me Rose is going to do more.

Donte Greene or Gerald Wallace - I actually really like Donte Greene, if he can fix his shot selection it might be a different story, but Crash is proven and plays at a high level.

OJ Mayo or JRich - I don't even think Mayo will be a quality NBA starter personally, I'm glad we're not going to draft him.

Eric Gordon or Raymond Felton - The Felton/SG comparisons continue

Joe Alexander or Adam Morrison - let's let Adam play without pressure in his second year

DJ Augustin or Mike Conley Jr. - close, but I like DJ.

Kevin Love or Andrew Bogut - Bogut is a stiff. Love can AT LEAST board and throw the outlet pass, something we do not have

Russell Westbrook or Kirk Hinrich - Russell is a great sleeper. He may be better than Bayless or Augustine.

Jerryd Bayless or Monta Ellis - more because I think Monta is a product of Don Nelson's system.

Derrick Rose or Deron Williams - If Rose becomes as good as Deron is now, it would be a great selection. I go with the sure thing.

Donte Greene or Gerald Wallace - Crash. You could have put Beasley here and I might have picked Crash still.

OJ Mayo or JRich - JRich is underrated. OJ is overrated. This one isn't close.

Eric Gordon or Raymond Felton - Just me, but gordon has bust written on him. Felton will blossom under LB.
