Russell Westbrook

I want to go ahead and stake my claim to this guy being the steal of the draft and that we better draft him.

First off he fits what we need, a combo guard who can play alongside J Rich, Ray, and Carroll or Ammo. He has the capability to be a shut down defender according to how well he handled Mayo this year. He's quick, has a solid jump shot and he can attack the basket and finish. Plus we can trade down for him.

Anthony Randolph is too thin and has an ugly jump shot, Love may be solid but he is going to struggle with the speed of the NBA. Deandre Jordan might be the second coming of ... Kwame Brown and I don't think we will find much better talent at the nine position than any of these guys.

Punt. If we draft anyone under 6'9" at the 9th pick I'm going to bash my head against the wall. We have bigger needs than drafting a backup PG at 9. The guys available might be projects but MJ can't justify anything other than a PF or C.

There is no big in the draft this year at our spot who can make an immediate impact so we have to go another route. Be it trade Crash and somehow bring in Jamison, Boozer, or i like Marvin Williams at the four but i doubt that will happen.

Now in the draft we can afford to take a guard who can grow into a possible replacement for Felton and give us an immediate upgrade at the backup position. There is no guy over 6'9 who can come in and start.

I'm with CC...if we stick at 9th take Westbrook.

I think Kevin Love can make an immediate impact on this team, assuming he's around. If we can't draft a big, figure out a way to trade the pick for a big. Drafting a backup PG is not the answer (sorry spectre) unless there is something else in the works for help down low.

I totally agree we need a big (PF), but we also need better defense along the perimeter. I would envision Westbrook getting about 12-14 minutes at the 1 and about the same at the 2.

No more Felts at SG!!!

I think we trade for the 4. I just don't think MJ will target another rook to come in and start like we did with Ammo. Not to mention I'm tired of the "need" pick...I want to go with a guy who has some potential.

Are you F08?

Yup, that's me. Figured the '08 might look a little dated at the end of the year so that's why the slight change. I don't know why I hadn't been on this board before. I should've followed your lead ages ago.

Anything that guarantees this I'm on board with!

But in all seriousness, if we're able to work out a draft day deal for a good PF then I'd be on board for taking a guy like Westbrook if he can spot Felton at PG as well as play SG.

If not, I've gotta say I'm more of a fan of taking Love or even reaching for Greene.

Blazer fan here, would you guys do Frye and Jack for your pick? Get a solid PF and backup combo guard?

What's the big deal with people wanting to replace Felton? The dude finished in the top 10 in assists per game and people want to replace him? Hell no! You're out of your mind if you want to replace him!

If being "in the top 10 in assists per game" precluded someone from ever being replaced, we would have never drafted Felton to begin with.

Westbrook isn't a PG but a combo. I don't see drafting him causing anyone to be replaced really, but more in shoring up the weaknesses we have on the perimeter (handles/defense). Having a guy like that is an asset as it puts less pressure for a 3rd PG taking up a roster spot (and salary).

I also really like the idea of a "no fear" guy who is great at driving AND finishing.

I would rather see us take a "big" but I like Westbrook as a player. I feel he would make positive contributions to us off the bench, defensively on the perimeter, a backup ball handler, and his awesome athleticism.

Wesbrook could be a good fit here, and if he's the top talent left at the time we pick then by all means take him and figure out what to do with the roster later. But with guys like Love, Jordan, etc. available I don't see how we'd be better off especially with the glaring hole at PF vs SG.
