Draft Day Trade?

Post#1 » by dustinzb » Thu Jun 5, 2008 3:14 pm

Saw on ESPN, an apparent rumor going around was that we have a draft day trade in line. I can't see because its only Insider, but does anyone know who might be involved?

its not overly helpful...just a link to today's Observer article

Draft Day Trade?
Last year the Bobcats traded their lottery pick for Warriors guard Jason Richardson. Coach Larry Brown would be open to a similar move, but likes the depth of this draft.
"I look at some guys who could be available at No. 9, and they could be as good as Nos. 2 or 3 in this draft," Brown said. -- The Charlotte Observer

I'd rather keep Randolph or Love or Augustin if they are there.

Randolph and Love will not be there, so trade the pick for a vet. No more short pointguards please.

I'm sure one of those two will be around for our pick. If not than the good Lopez must've fallen to us and we have to take BPA.

There's a rumor on Bleacher Report from 2 June about a trade with the Suns. It say it has been discussed in length for awhile now. Here's what it says, although it would be able to happen the way it says until after free agency starts.

Suns get #9 pick, Felton, Nazr and Harrington
Cats get Nash

There's only a couple of ways a trade between the 2 teams BEFORE free agency starts would be to take out Harrington and adding in Dudley and Mays. Or revamp the trade as Nash/Tucker/#48 pick to Cats for Felton/Wallace/#9/ and Dudley or Mays.

Why would the Suns trade Nash? I know he's getting old, but I figure if a player of his caliber is traded they would get a star player in return or a very high draft pick. Unless they are just dying to unload him.

I hope they aren't trying to unload him. He's still a top 3 PG in this league and I think he will play fine under Terry Porter. Just thought it was interesting, yet disturbing that the Cats were rumored.
