Bobcats War Room - 2008 Draft - Round 2 - Pick # 34

Post#1 » by August Us Seazr » Sat Jun 7, 2008 3:46 am

Good evening! Tonight we re-convene to assess whose name will be placed in the 34th slot on our draft board. Just like the 33rd slot, we have to dig, research, ponder, and sweat all of those juicy details, eliminating those who are weak and puny, and choosing the strong, the fast, and the smart. That past vote brought Center DeVon Hardin to our list of draft hopefuls. We seem to be fond of looking at the people who fill the gaping holes that we suffered with last season.

We are getting closer and closer to that # 38 pick. Who are you hoping will be available then? Who are you hoping will be selected in the next day? Time will deliver our answer.

Tonight, though, we work out pick # 34. That's the one that Minnesota owns and didn't get via a trade. I know that I spoke earlier this week about value picks. This is another good place for a high value selection. I have mathematically determined the order that my five mocks arrive at when combined together. The top two remaining value picks by those five mock drafts are Jason Thompson of Rider College, and Courtney Lee of Western Kentucky. Thompson is still around at 34 when his composite draft position is 26. Likewise, Lee is falling to us with a composite draft position of 27. Please note that I am not trying to influence you here. I am just reporting who the mocks feel are the best available. We still have to determine for ourselves whether each player is good for our team. If that means Thompson falls to 45 or later, then that's what happens.

Your job tonight is to take the nine names below and find the gem for the Bobcats. It will be nice to compare what we have done here to the actual draft night results. I think we are doing a pretty good job figuring out who our options will be. I'd like to have an ascension to the top of the league like Boston had this year. Who knows, maybe it could happen to us!

Time to vote. Please complete your vote by 10 PM. We have to move on to # 35 tomorrow night. Claw on!

Voted for Kyle Weaver with some misgivings. If Weaver becomes a Bobcat, Crash is probably on a plane elsewhere. I'm not down with that just now. But I know it is coming sometime.

Long careers for our two Original Bobcats, Emeka Okafor and Gerald Wallace.

Weaver

(I don't like that Dorsey is so undersized - other wise it would have been him)

Your selection at # 34 is Joey Dorsey, the third member of the Memphis team to join our draft board. Like e4Nf6 said though, he has to "Get Offensive" if he wants to make a splash on our team. So much of what we have ongoing from here will be an outside in type of offense. When it goes inside, it must be flushed through the hoop. Here's hoping he can do just that.

And now, on to pick # 35!
