magic fan asking about morrison
since you guys want another pick, how about our pick+brian cook rounder for morrison. or maybe cook and vazquez since you guys want another big. no offense guys but his value is pretty low right now. you wouldnt get much better offers from any other team
I live rent free in your head. You know who you are

Even though the B.Cook + this years 1st rounder for Morrison isn't terrible IMO, we would be very hesitant to pull the trigger. Morrison if you remember was the 3rd pick overall, and coming off of last years injury, hes got alot to prove, its just way too early to be trading his "value". You look at players like Kwame Brown and Darko Millicic, they really haven't done that much with their careers, but are still considered to have potential and be a solid or building piece for a team or trading. The Vazquez and Cook for Morrison, is a joke, so basically its Cook for Morrison right? I have heard talks of him "possibly" coming to the NBA, but Charlotte would be insane to consider that trade. Yes his value is pretty low right NOW, I think Charlotte will have the patience to wait and give him a new chance after surgery to redeem himself.

You'd be hard pressed to get a late first for Kwame or Darko. Neither one of those players are diabetic or coming off a torn ACL either. How good can he possibly be as to demand MORE than that? He'll never be worth a lottery pick again, I feel very safe in saying.
So I'd have to say this is a good deal for us, someone could definitely be around for the Magic pick that we'd be excited to have, and we pick up a role player anyway.

It's pointless to write the guy off after ONE year in the NBA. His value is so low to where I'd rather take my chances and hope he pans out to be what we planned he would one day be when we drafted him #3 overall.

Currently it is a very good offer, I doubt we can get much more. On the other one never knows how much he could improve. But I would probably do that.

Exactly right, his value is so low that you may as well just roll the dice with him, chances are he will raise his value even if he isn't that good. Plus, you can always try to buy a pick.

Exactly, I think the main reason teams in the 20's sell picks so often now a days is because of the cap situation. They're already good teams and they don't feel like adding more guaranteed salary to their payroll for 3 years for a guy who might ride the pine.

Unless of course he barely sees the floor, gets injured again, and/or is just as horrible as he was his rookie season, meaning he's confirmed as a total bust. At that point you receive nothing for him, instead of a late first to take a stab at another player.

Re: magic fan asking about morrison
To me, who cares? If we can't draft a good player at #3, what are the odds we will draft a good player at #25 or something?
Considering what we invested in Morrison, it's better to live or die with him, than give him up for a pick in the 20's, most of which can be bought for cash anyway. Sure, he may continue to suck, or even get worse and be worth nothing, but that isn't much different from what we would be receiving in a deal like this anyway.
