#9 and Ammo for #3?

So this rumor seems to be picking up steam. Surprisingly the first place I saw it was in the Observer on behalf of our favorite Rick Bonnell.
I think the only way I would do this is if we could get Beasley. Otherwise, who are we really gaining by moving up to #3? I'm in the camp that would rather see what Morrison could give us this upcoming year. It kind of sucks giving up a #3 and a #9 for a #3 if you think about it that way.

It seems like the only reason it's "picking up steam" is just because it's one source that's been repeated over and over again.
I doubt it, but Minnesota has made some other stupid moves, so who knows.
I would do it, just because there's a good chance Morrison will never amount to anything, and even if he does, it'd be hard for him to be so good as to ever make this look like a bad trade. Even if he gets up to "Matt Carroll" level, this would be a good trade. He'd have to improve into a legitimate 15-20ppg scorer for this to be a bad trade, and even then it would have to take whoever we draft at #3 being a bust.

This was posted over the weekend also. And Minn would not comment. Again they were asked about it and did not comment. I would think if this were completely untrue, they would have shot it down. Since they did no, and had 2 chances, there is a pretty good chance there is something there.
In the best of all worlds, Miami takes Mayo and #3 is Beasley. We'd be golden then. But even if it's Mayo, we can still accomplish a lot. Playing Mayo at the PG gives us the opportunity to shop Ray for a trade for a PF, or playing Mayo at the SG and J-Rich at SF allows us to trade Crash for the PF. I'd hate to lose either, but getting a PF is essential. I dont want to leave it to May's health or Davidson. But Beasley and Mayo on this team will improve us, so I'd be happy with that trade whether we grab Mayo or Beasley.

Heh, I visited the T-wolves board after posting this (and I saw SLAM did too) and not a single person didn't say hell no to that deal. What's funny about it though is this is Kevin Mchale we're talking about, he MUST come up on the short end of all trades therefor this one is possible, lol.
I bet he remembers what Ammo did to the T-Wolves the season before last in Minnesota. Man if he could do that a few times per month he would be golden.
But yes, if we could move up and land Beasley, then we would HAVE to do this trade. But who knows what Miami will do. They need a Center or a PG, the closest to either is Mayo so I can see them taking him over Beasley.

If we turned Ammo and 9 into Beasley I will go the entire season without complaining about anything. We could even resign McInnis.

There's got to be another piece to this trade. Either we're taking on a bad contract or we're giving up another player. Mayo and Beasley both fit needs and both have far more superstar potential than any of the players available at #9.

I made a post in the draft thread. I was thinking maybe Minnesota was trading down twice in the draft and maybe we'd be getting the 5th pick or something more around Love's range.

If trading Ammo allowed us to get into the top 3 of this draft then I would have to take back saying that drafting him set us back 4 years. If it went down, I would rejoice the man with the mo.

KNEW we should have got SM15 to sign a contract!!

I have seen and heard a lot all over the place so I combine some rumors and got this.
Ammo, Wallace, #9
for
Brewer, Jaric, Madsen, #3
Since Wallace is not a LB type of defensive player and would fit well in the fast paced style of this young Minny team. Ammo carries potential and the nine could net the big man they need in the middle next to Jefferson.
Charlotte get some potential in Brewer and a backup in Madsen just another big body to throw around. Jaric could be effective in Browns system as a big backup PG/SG. At three they can get either Mayo or Beasley depending on what happens.

Man, don't do that! That's awful harsh punishment for you and for us. We all have to blow off steam now and again. And please, no McInnis. Heck, I'd take Muggsy Bogues and his aging, ailing knees! At least he knew how to get the ball in to the block.

Oh, yes. Do the deal before McHale goes sane!

Not sure where to put this but...
Word is the Bobcats have called the Cavs and have been trying to figure out how to get the Cavs pick. No word on names or anything but the Bobcats are very interested in our pick.

If Jeff really locked Sam Vincent up (see bobcatsplanet) we should rehabilited him.

I am pretty sure that this is too good to be true ( and I like ammo) but if we could trade him and the #9 for the #3 and manage to get lucky and grab beasley or mayo and then somehow get the cavs pick and draft a big (hibbert/alijica) this would be a near perfect offseason.

i think a more likely scenario would be us trading ammo to a team in the late teens for an extra pick, while taking back some filler. however, i hope that doesnt happen.

I doubt the Cavs would give your pick up - and if you did we would have to overpay for it (no thanks!!) because you have a need for a guy like Hibbert yourself with Z getting older and not a lot in the big man dept (especially if Anderson is traded)

This offer isn't even close to the offers that MIN is seeing posted on its boards. They certainly wouldn't make the trade before they knew whether the #3 was Mayo or Beasley. As for McHale making bad deals, his last five have turned out pretty good, and have given fans optimism about the team. He fixed the finances, with the only bad deal belonging to a productive Jaric. He got rid of the bad attitudes. He added two first round picks, and Al Jefferson and Gomes were better than expected.

The cats need to keep ammo mainly because he averaged nearly 30 a game in collage and has had only one season to gel with the team. Its just like the may situation, they need to give him another full season and then decide
