Bobcats War Room - 2008 Draft - Shutting the Doors @ # 45.

Post#1 » by August Us Seazr » Wed Jun 25, 2008 3:35 am

I miss this already. There is a strange comfort in this conference room, mulling over who is worthy of selection by the Bobcats on Thursday night's draft. If we stick to our list, we should have someone available at all points, no matter where we pick from, which, as far as I can tell, could be anywhere from 3 to 60, if you believe everything you read. (I don't.) I will go so far as to predict that this will be anything but a docile draft with few trades. These teams are really stirred up. Dallas and Phoenix, the class of the WC last year, both had lackluster playoff experiences this year and canned their coaches. Other teams are looking to keep pace with the Lakers and Celtics. I think it is possible that Thursday could be a real bazaar, with deal after deal being announced. Long story short, it might pay to have that TiVo running on Thursday night. You don't want to miss the really good parts.

And a parting shot at Larry Brown's old friend Stephen A. Smith. Jason Richardson got the best of you, man! Michael Jordan (that's the part owner of the Bobcats, not the new Carolina Hurricanes hockey defenseman) may have a spotty draft day record, but your pal Larry is going to give him a few lessons in talent seeking. No more messing up on the big guys. But the bottom line is, MJ got it right last year! Now be a dear and go pester the Pacers and Bucks! The Bobcats are in capable hands.

Now, let me briefly touch on last pick's winner. We had another tiebreaker at # 44. Jamont Gordon survived my cap. I know that he's thrilled. He should be. He's now in line to be a draftee of the genuine Charlotte Bobcats. The ones that win playoff games. The ones that grow their games. The ones that play their butts off in practice and in games. The ones who stay healthy, not on the I.R. list. Not those artificial Bobcats we saw in 2007-08, those that believe everything that proceeds out of Stephen A. Smith's mouth on SportsCenter.

And now, as I exit my soapbox for the voting booth, I want to thank each and every one of you who voted, not just tonight, but from the first vote back in April. I want to thank doc.end for his assistance in starting this up this year. I especially want to thank Hamilton for being a good sport about being the personification of our "None of the Above" category. No harm was meant, and I hope no offense was taken.

I hope that we will all be around next year to return to the War Room, where we can conjure up more dreams of what the future of the Bobcats will look like. Keep your claws sharp and your pounce in good working order! And after we vote, we'll shut down.......

UNTIL NEXT YEAR, Guys! Thanks again!

If Walt has researched him, and if he has just barely missed on a tiebreaker, there has to be something to him. This isn't a place where the term bust is a big factor. I'm rolling the dice and
Yahtzee!

Darnell Jackson, Power Forward, Kansas (good pedigree school, ain't it?)

Good luck, Walt!

And we conclude our season with the selection of Darnell Jackson, Power Forward from Kansas. Walt seems overjoyed. Keep the faith, man.

A belated thanks to our front office and the Denver Nuggets for allowing us to acquire pick # 20. Now we can really plug some holes in our lineup. On to the summer league!
