Who will be better next year: Ammo or May

Post#2 » by geezy » Thu Jun 26, 2008 3:16 pm

With all the talk of trading these guys, it got me thinking about who I think will actually help the team next season if they stay with the team. My guess would be Ammo just because I think he will stay healthy. Maybe he'll recapture some of the magic he had at Gonzaga, maybe.

May showed he could play in the NBA when he was healthy, but I don't think his knee will hold up. My guess is he'll be out of the league in 2-3 years because of the knee.

The only way May could even be better is if Ammo won't play at all because of any random health problems. Then the one with lower salary can be considered as better. But I still think that Adam attract more fans which wouldn't root for us otherwise than Sean does. By a mile. Not even mention he is more attractive player for national media.

Umm, what's the criteria? If it's based on actual play, it's May in a landslide. If it's based on likelihood TO play, then it's Morrison. If it's based on value, then probably May, because Morrison will probably end up hurting the team and we'd be better off with a replacement player.

Morrison was looking good in pre-season last year with almost no system in place under shiney head. I'm gonna go with Ammo here, mainly because I know he's way more competitive than May and doesn't have a long term career threatening injury.

This is why I asked the question. There are so many variables. If Morrison's healthy, where does he get playing time if we still have Wallace, Dudley, Richardson, and Carroll?

Ammo missed a ton of open shots, if he can just calm down and drop easy looks then he'll help more. I have no confidence that May will play much if he's on the squad.

I hope Morrison gets better and actually contributes, but I'm gonna go with May as well.

If he is healthy enough to play, he's almost assuredly better than Morrison.

And if he misses another year, and Morrison doesn't improve...May wins by default, because Morrison's on-the-court play would be a negative (again).

At least! All Ammo needs is a good system where he's used properly, and with better team defense his value will shoot right up. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if he was in contention for Most Improved Player next season.

If I were Minny I'd jump all over that 9th/Ammo for 3...if not it could be the biggest mistake of their franchise.

You can only base it on the criteria of what we know - and what we know is that while Ammo sucked his rookie year, McMay has hardly seen the court in three years.

Saying that if McMay was healthy he would be the better is like saying if Ammo could play D he would be better.

Neither of those things are happening.

So by default, Ammo is better.

Well, what I mean is... if May plays 20 games, and is way better in them than Ammo, who wins? If it's based on play, it's May. If it's based on total value, it might be Ammo, if he improves. But if Ammo plays like he did his rookie year, we'd be better off with a replacement-level player.
