Felton: Staying or Going?

My guess is he's around for another year unless they get a great offer for him. Thoughts?

He's not going any where until they know that DJ belongs in the NBA - and even then Felts probably wont be going any where.

I don't see why anything that happened tonight means he's on his way out.
We had one PG.
We needed at least one other.
We got possibly two, with one of those being a combo-guard that is more defensive-oriented, and can play either be a 3rd PG, or a defensive SG brought off the bench to lock someone down.
I don't know all the PFs available, but those picks make a lot more sense and have a better chance of contributing than another Davidson, or Hollins, or whatever other big man we would have been reaching for if we didn't draft Weaver.

Chad Ford on DJ Pick:
A little bit of a surprise. We've been hearing all day that the Bobcats are shopping Raymond Felton. I guess this confirms it. They passed on a need (Brook Lopez) to get Augustin. He's an upgrade over Felton, so it's hard to criticize the Bobcats. Augustin has a chance to be special. The Blazers and Kings wanted him and have to be crushed right now.

Media knee jerk reaction.
Has about as much legs as #9 and Ammo for the #3 IMO.
The NY Press will be p*ssed about the Gallinari draft and are trying to spin a PG out of it.

Hmm, that could be a viable trade. But lots of false rumors come out of NY, ie, how we were trading up with Memphis.

I think it's legit......Chad Ford said look for Felton to be traded by the end of the weekend for a power foward so it may have legs. DJ Augustin and Kyle Weaver may have the keys to the bus. If that's the case a veteran point guard will be brought in to help them out.

Yep, it could be. They were talking earlier about how NY wanted a PG, and how they wanted to trade Lee for Memphis' pick...and then NY selected that Italian kid, and didn't do anything else.
It does make sense. I don't know that I would do that trade, just because I'm pretty happy where we are at almost every position (outside of PF), whereas if we do that trade, I don't think we solve our PF position, but we might handicap ourselves at PG some.

Also, those Memphis and Minnesota trades were tossed around......tons of stuff of trades were thrown around. That doesn't mean it was false cause it didn't happen.
Augustin
JRich
Wallace
Lee
Okafor
Morrison, Carroll, Dudley, Mohammad, May, Weaver, Davidson, Hollins, Ajinca, veteran PG

I dont think that Lee gives us what we want/need at all - where as Felton does.

I feel about the same way. I don't want Felts to be traded because I think a rookie PG limits our chances of making the playoffs. I hate to give up on Felts. Learning how to play PG in the NBA is tough. Look what Billups became after some time.
Whats the deal with Lee? Is he a legit PF? What is his contract status?

not concerned about ray.
dj will either push ray to be a better player or dj will beat him out and ray will make a fantastic 3rd guard who can play minutes at both spots. at worst ray is an attractive trading piece as he has a good salary, is young w/ some upside, and plays a position of value. if felton were to land us david lee, thats not half bad. lee is a player.
if we move felton, i am not at all comfortable w/ dj as our lone pg next season. give him time to learn slowly. we'd need to acquire a vet pg.

David Lee is a very good power forward at age 25. He averaged about 11 pts and 9 rebounds in 29 minutes. The whole Knicks team and coaching staff was messed up.....they played people like Zach Randolph more bc of salary but Lee should have gotten 35 minutes plus. He would get 10 minutes one night and 35 another night but when he got minutes he delivered every time. He averaged 18 pts and 12 rebounds in his last 15 games when he got big minutes.

Anthony Carter or a Jacque Vaughn type player would be good to play 10-15 minutes a game.

Remember we are trying to get O.Greene who could help us at PG or SG

I wondering what the Bobcats brass saw in Felton that they decided to draft a younger point guard. Maybe they saw him as backup material or something.
