Would you pull this sign and trade......Brand for Felton and Wallace?
Augustin/Anthony Carter
JRich/Carroll/Weaver
Dudley/Morrison
Brand/May/Davidson/Ajinca
Okafor/Mohammad
I would kill for that lineup....Augustin, JRich, Dudley, Brand, and Okafor =Playoffs. If Morrison or May could contribute it would be gravy. Preferably, I would like to give up Wallace and May or even Morrison but it may have to be Felton.

I mean... yes, sure I would do that. Would the Clips, though, and does the salary work?

Since Brand opted out, I guess they'd have to take whatever they could get if they wanted something in return.
We could always do something like Wallace + Carroll for Brand if that's enough salary.
Baron Davis is also apparently now a FA.

I don't know that I would, but that's probably because I figured since I haven't heard from Brand in awhile, I figure he's on the decline. Lemme go check his age...29. Hmmm. I would probably pass. It's a fair deal on our part, but I'd just rather stick with what we have.
And in that proposed lineup, "Dudley" scares me. I like what he provides off the bench, but I don't know about as a starter. Maybe if I saw more of what he could do offensively. But it doesn't seem like there's enough scoring from our backcourt (including Dudley).
I also think Augustin would perform better with the team the way it is set up now, rather than with Brand. Brand is the type of player you give the ball to, and let him go to work. Augustin can do that (who can't?), but I think he will really shine on the team we've assembled now.
I'm more interested in sticking with this team the way it is, maybe adding another big man via FA, and seeing how they perform at least for the first part of the season. If we are still underperforming, we can look to shake up things then.

I think that lineup would have plenty of scoring, even out of the backcourt... with no Wallace, JRich probably scores slightly more (perhaps even as high as 24ppg?) and Augustine has no problem with scoring when he's asked to.
I understand the reservations about Dudley, but frankly that team is better than one with Crash and Felton. Brand plays great defense too, we'd be devastating interior defenders and rebounders, and Brand would provide plenty of scoring punch too. Also, spending an MLE on a guy to play swingman next to JRich would be a lot easier, in my opinion, than finding a PF who does what we want him to. I would imagine Larry Brown would love having a guy like Brand on his team, as well.

I don't think this would ever happen, in fact the most likely scenario is we S&T Okafor for Brand if something like this were to go down. In which case, I'd rather have Okafor because he's like 24 or something.

There is speculation that Brand opted out so that the Clips could sign Baron, and then resign Brand. I'm not sure I buy that but just throwing it out there. It's certainly true that Baron wants to be in LA with his grandma and his movie pals.

Didn't Posey Opt out of Boston?

The irony is, out of the big FA's, they could all have just swapped places with each other and rounded/balanced out each others teams and made their new teams better.
Miller
Iggy
Young
Jamison
Dalambert
Sixers get a jump shooting PF to team with Dalambert.
Daniels
Young
Butler
Brand
Haywood
Wizards get some inside scoring and toughness
Gilbert
Gordon
Mobley
Thornton
Kaman
Clipps get a PG to lead the team and mentor the young Gordon to take over one day
Davis
JJ
Childress
Marvin
Horford
Get an up tempo PG to match their extreme athletes
Monta
Bellinelli
Smoove
Wright
Beans
Get a defensive kid who gets up and down, helps on the boards and can shoot a little

It depends on the Clippers. I think the Bobcats would love to get Brand for both Wallace and Felton. Brand is a bona fide star in this league.

umm yeah, no way that is even a reasonable trade from any standpoint.
1) Brand wants to play for a "winner", whatever that is these days. But I doubt it includes the Bobs at this point.
2) This team needs a 5, not a 4. I would love to see Okafor play along side a decent center, and i don't really know how much of an improvement Brand would be to Okafor at the 4 spot.
3) Even if brand forces a sign and trade, there will be much better offers than Wallace and Felton, much less dreams of Wallace and May or the Stache.
The only way Brand comes to Charlotte is if he pulls a Ken griffey Jr and demands it specifically, which I have no reason at all to even consider a possibility.
Now if it was a trade for kaman and his balding mullett, I would be happy to trade Wallace, May, and Morrison, but even the Clips ain't that dumb!

The team needs a 4, what team were you watching this past season?
If the money is right I see Brand coming here, especially being that in the east he'll have a higher chance at success. He's not going to one of the big boys in the West.

Carolina Heat......you aren't informed. We all want Okafor to play the 5.....we need a power forward.
Keep it clean.

Baron just reached a verbal agreement with the clippers. Thus ending all talks about brand bolting out ... He is going to try the Davis-Thorton-Brand-Kaman combo! DAMMIT!

BDavis
Eric Gordon
Thornton
Brand
Kaman
The West doesn't play around......the Clippers, Blazers, Hornets, Spurs, Lakers, Jazz, Nuggets, Mavs, Suns, and Rockets are all legit. The Mavs and Suns may not be better than the Clips and Blazers soon if not right now.

Hah, I stand corrected as to Okafor's position.
I watched plenty of Bobcat games the past 3 seasons, but I also watch plenty of other league games.
Who does Okafor overpower or out play at the 5? Don't force a bad situation to fit personnel that with LB is likely to change anyway. He could be the real deal at the 4. He will be a mediocre 5 for a mediocre team.
As for the fact that the board must all be in agreement, sorry to not be in lock step. Need not worry about further dissent from me, though, as if I am really the only one here who thinks Okafor is a 4 then I might as well just stick to listening to the geniuses who call into 'primetime with the packman'...
