Davis Bolts GSW for Clippers

Interesting turn of events. They have no PG at all now. They are in a predicament and may be willing to give up a whole lot right now for an experienced PG. It is surely worth looking into if I'm the Bobcats mgmnt. Just to see what you might get in return.

Wow! Davis is taking quite a pay cut to make this move. And it looks like Brand will take less than he could otherwise make to resign with the Clippers, too.

I'm actually getting really excited for the league.

I'm hoping that players are starting to (finally) come to the conclusion that it takes a full, deep team to win rings so rather than screwing teams out of massive contracts, they might start to be willing to earn less money for the greater good.

I seriously hope that this is a taste of things to come for the NBA and the end of stupid contracts handed out to every Tom, Dick and Harry.

BigSlam if you put yourself in the player's shoes it's hard though to turn down all that money. It takes a real man to walk away from 10-15 million dollars even if you have 50 million in the bank. I'm not a real man.....I would probably take the money and hope my team adds enough to make us winners. The only way I understand it is when a player's in his last couple of years and already cheated the league out of loads of money (Grant Hill).

Right now, all GSW have at PG is CJ Watson. They already offered to MAX Agent Zero, but if he stays with Washington, GSW is in a real bind. We could end up getting Wright back and a 1st or Wright and Bellini for Ray. We'd have to get a vet PG to help with DJ while he gets the NBA PG position down, but that is 1 yr at most. But getting Wright and more back would be very enticing. Lets Ajinca take his time learning and Ajinca is big enought to play a C/PF combo so ont lose time really to Wright.

Bad mistake if we try to dump Ray for Wright! I still don't understand why people are so high on Wright??? Am I missing something? He barely played for the GSW last year! Suddenly he is equivalent to Ray? Ray may not be the best PG, he may not even be our future PG. But trading him for a guy who avg 5 mins per game??? GSW even took another Wright in Randolph as insurance!
Forget it! I think with both BD and Brand signing back with the clips, our first option should be trying to sign maggette and trade Wallace for a PF. Or if Bobcats are that cofident that Carroll can step up to that SG position, trade Wallace for a legit PF straight up.

damn BD 5 years 65 mil! thats cheap! and teams are willing to offer Arenas 100 mil for 6 years coming off an injury plague season. (confusing to say the least!)

The amount of money being offered to Arenas is absurd.

I'd be worried about committing 100m to Arenas personally.

Pondin: Check Brandan Wright's college... Maybe is not just this in this case.

I'm not sure I want anybody from Warriors' current roster, except maybe Harrington (not looking at contract),Jackson is a locker room risk. We need PF and PG, I don't see anyone.

Of course Monta Ellis but he is their starting PG so there is no way we can get him.

You should look at Harrington's contract and then you won't want him either...19 million over the next 2. Not to mention he shys away from contact and plays totally outside the paint. That 5 rebounds per 27 minutes sure is impressive though.

Harrington has all the tools but he's a Tim Thomas type PF, only interested in shooting from outside. BD signing with the Clips prob spells the end of any talks of us acquiring Brand(which sucks donkey balls).

I dont think BD took a paycut at all, from what I hear the Warriors have been making pedestrian offers to him which is why he opted out, and the offer they made him after he opted out was the same as what they were proposing to him before so he went with the Clips.

Good luck to him b/c he was my favorite player in the Charlotte Hornet days.

Elton Brand will sign for 13.5M per year (according to general nba discussion threed). Well at least we shouldn't have problems to re-sign Okafor for reasonable money (if Brand takes 13.5M...)

Well, our great hopes for Brand and Jamison are both shot down (so much for Jamison wanting to play for his hometown... hah). What now?

yea, very poor...Jamison is more clever in finding ways to score and better with his back to the basket.

I usually think of Harrington as a more athletic Tim Thomas.

Well doc looks like now GS offered Brand 17-18 Mil/5 yrs, while the most the Clippers can offer is 14 Mil/yr according to http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wireta ... _contract/

Would be hilarious if they switched teams leaving either signing not meaning much in the big picture and the 2 teams just spinning their wheels. If Brand doesn't sign with us, I'd rather him remain in the West.

The most the Clippers can offer Brand is a five-year deal worth about $70 million due to salary-cap restrictions - about $20 million less than the Warriors.

I assume that's a self imposed restriction? From what I've understood the CBA allows for a team to always re-sign their own players regardless of their cap situation.

Good play by Mullin.

Edit:

Actually it's not self imposed. Because they offered that deal to Baron they are restricted in what they can offer Brand.

ESPN is reporting that the bid was unsuccessful though.
