I do think we should hold on to Felton and Wallace until the season starts and see what LB does with them but if we trade Felton to the Cavs what do they have that we would want?

Cavs Chasing Felton, Posey, or Ellis?

The Cavs have looked at Golden State restricted free agent Monta Ellis, but it's hard to imagine the Warriors allowing the 22-year-old guard to leave. It's also doubtful they'd want to put together a sign-and-trade, as they expect Ellis to take the lead in their backcourt, especially after losing Baron Davis to the Clippers. Ellis supposedly is seeking a 5-year, $50 million deal. He averaged 20 points and shot 53 percent from the field.

Yes, the Cavs also are talking to James Posey. So are several other teams. The Twinsburg product signed a one-year deal last season. He wants multiple years this time around, and his defense and winning attitude should attract more than a single-year contract at the age of 31.

After taking Texas point guard D.J. Augustin with the No. 9 pick, Charlotte now has two point guard along with Raymond Felton. He averaged 14.4 points, 7.4 assists and shot 41 percent. The Cavs reportedly do have an interest in Felton, but so far, new Coach Larry Brown wants to keep both point guards. But Larry Brown also is very prone to changing his mind, so the Cavs would be wise to keep talking to Charlotte about this subject.

From the looks of that article, nothing that they'd be willing to give up.

What would you take off their lineup straight up for Felts? Maybe Varejao (doubt I would...he seems very limited to me), but he's off the table until December. Boobie? Boobie & West? Both are RFAs so that'd be difficult...and we really don't need more SGs (short ones at that).

I just don't see anything all that attractive.

I think West+Varejao would be great, that would fill the backup PG spot and give us a pretty good PF next to Okafor. That's way too much salary though, and presumably the Cavs will want more in return than just Felton. Maybe Ammo and a pick? Ugh, probably not enough...

Delonte West and Varejao (even with the injury) would be amazing.

I don't think we can trade them Morrison, because I think there is some rule that Ammo and Wally-World can't be on the same team or the universe will implode.

Cavs have some decent pieces. I think West would give the Bobcats a good option at PG while DJ gets ready and a great 3rd guard/6th man on this team.

Why do you want to lock this? There's a post on IC premium saying that Felton has told current UNC players that he may play for the Knicks or Cavs next year. It's a relevant topic to find out what we can get for Felton from the Cavs. I would like Boobie and Varejao.

cavs have nothing that works for us. like others mentioned. AV cant be traded to us yet and DG and DW are RFAs.

How much was Varejao wanting before that sit out last year? Are we willing to pay him 8-10 million bucks to be our energy guy? He doesn't have a lot of offense (that I've seen, granted the sample is kinda small), but no doubt he'd be a help defensively.

IF we knew we could get him for less and IF West signed for a reasonable amount I think I'd agree. Really worried about that first "if" tho.

Edit: Fats that's what I was going on as well, but if they could trade West after 90 days and I assume he's not going to get enough to become BYC (could be wrong on both counts) this could go down in December vs. now. If those are the case then it's feasible at least.

well in that case... i would be ok with felton for west and av, but i dont think those salaries match... and av thinks he is worth WAY more than he really is. dude is nothing more than an energy player/situational defender/rebounding specialist. i wouldnt sign him to a long term deal for anything more than 5-6 mil, if that.

Varejao's signed for 5.75m this year, and he has an option on whether or not to take 6.2m next year. I guess he might opt out, but I don't think he'll get much more, if any, cash on the open market at that point. Gibson's an RFA, so that would have to be a sign and trade, and so is Delonte West, though he has a qualifying offer of 2.75m.

So... probably either one of them will command something similar to Ray's 4m, in which case Ammo+Ray is probably a good enough salary. I sincerely doubt that's enough for Cleveland though, and we have no first rounder to offer them.

I suggested this because the same trade suggestions keep coming up. I'm sure we'll see another Knicks poster come in here asking what we think about a Felton for David Lee trade next.

Thinks it's a bit different this time Rich as it comes from media source, not some Knicks or Cavs homer. I have been getting frustrated with the numerous Cavs threads which have appear recently and each time we have said 'no thanks' and explained enough times that the Cavs don't have the piece to complete a trade that we are happy with considering they are asking for Crash, J-Rich or Okafor.

I'm not going to insult people by asking for a Lebron trade and he's really the only guy on the Cavs roster I'd be interested in.

Felton for West and Varejao... I'd have to have a serious look at that...

Varejao is a nice player but I think we need a more complete PF, we already have a defensive minded big in Okafor, I'd prefer another big with him that has a mid-range game of some kind or at least some offensive aptitude. Varejao is an excellent rebounder and energy guy but I wouldn't want him as our starting PF.

West is pretty good, but we have Weaver now who maybe will be able to do the same type of things as West defensively and in a support PG role. No thank you.

What Delonte would bring is shooting; he's a far superior 3-baller than Weaver or Felton. I also think it's a mistake to think Weaver can handle backup PG... odds are good he's out of the league in a few years. He might not play ANY PG, so I would think West would be a good 2-position backup and shooter. Varejao's +/- numbers are consistently off the charts; he's among the league's best at taking charges (or "flopping" or whatever), and he's a very good rebounder.

AV's not going to help the offense much, but I still think the team will probably be better when he's on the court and worse when he's off. I have almost no doubt that Felton+something for AV and West would improve the team greatly, but I don't know what the "something" would have to be for the Cavs to agree. Probably we don't have anything.

Don't feel strongly one way or the other. I think I'm in the same boat with Slam, because I lost interest in this news clipping when I read the part he quoted.

I (as a Cavs fan) wouldn't do West + Varejao, let alone Varejao straight up. I just feel that West is as good as a player as Felton is.

I think that once Dec. 5th comes around, a Varejao for Felton deal could be something that both teams look at. Especially with the Bobcats having a lot of interest in Varejao. Although that deal would be contingent upon whether or not Varejao can help net us the #2 option we so desperately need.

I think that's a serious issue with your club has smooth32. Unfortunately I just can't see the pieces on the Cavs roster which could be exchanged for an good second option. Elite teams need the second fiddle. Your alpha-dog is set and ready, but there is no consistent second fiddle. I don't think Varejao alone will get you that second fiddle. It will have to include others and picks. I'd love to be able to grab West and Varejao, but they ain't worth Crash, J-Rich or Okafor.
