Why we should not trade any players this summer - reasons!

Let's make a list of reasons why the Bobcats should not make any trades this summer. There are a lot of valid reasons, so I'll start off with an easy one.
1) Let's see what a freakin' HOF coach can get out of various players after the festering stinking crusted-over turd that was Vincent's "coaching" last season (

Your turn.

2) No matter the offer, the team/s or the player/s involved, we will get fleeced.
Your turn.

I'm sorry, but I just can't see closing the door on making trades. Say for some reason the Blazers offered Joel Pryzbilla straight up for Nazr. Say what you want, but I think Joel would make a lot of sense for this team.
Not to mention, for example, how the Sonics got Kurt Thomas last year or the deal between Philly and Minnesota which will make Rodney Carney, Calvin Booth and a First round pick Wolves all for the price of a trade excemption.

Seriously, that's exactly how I feel right now.
We don't seem to get those sweet deals like you're talking about Chrbal. Yeah, I do think we had a good chance of getting Kurt Thomas last year before we brought in Swish, but I'm pretty sure in THAT deal our 1st was included unlike with the (former) Sonics.
I'm starting to think other GMs see a big red lollipop whenever they look at Jordan.
3) We can't afford to swap a core piece without creating another hole...just not deep enough. What we'd get out of the scraps probably wouldn't be worth it anyway.

4- We need to see this team mix for a while before we sell off some pieces.
5- George Lynch is retired and Eric Snow should be, so we can't or shouldn't trade for them.

Sorry but I have to play devil's advocate.... I really dont see any real reason to bring this team back as is. We already are not a playoff team & teams around us got better, so I think we should try to get better unless we are satisfied being the 11th or 12th best team in the East. Even if we make a trade and end up getting "hosed" I atleast wanna say hey management tried as opposed to staying stat quo....we just dont have alot of talent and no real cap space so this team has to be improved somehow cause what we have now is borderline garbage. As individual NBA players they've accomplished nothing, as a team even less. If this team doesnt do something soon(make playoffs, get a name NBA player, anything) those of us that live in charlotte know the fan base is gonna be even worse than it is now if thats possible.....

In other words you'd have management do something just so they can say they did?
I think we ARE a playoff team (def. think we were one last season), esp. if May and Ammo can come back and at least contribute.
LB will add at least 5 if not 10 wins by himself.

6. we dont have any really good trade assets that are easily moved in a deal for fair value or dont create a major hole if traded.... besides jrich, who has been labled as being our most untradeable player.
may and ammo are hurt.
okafor is an RFA.
wallace and carroll are BYC.
nazr is our only true center who is worth a damn.
dudley would not net us a fair return.
felton is our only pg who has ever started an nba game.
we've already traded our pick for next year.
everyone else is simply filler in a deal at this point.

7 - Because the trade deadline isn't until next Febuary. The team has time to see what LB can get out of the players and if this mix is working or not.

Thats exactly what Im saying....do something, no way I think this team is a playoff team. There are 15 teams in the East so to sneak in the playoffs we have to be better than atleast 7 of them....I dont see 7 teams we are better than if we stay as is....right now I see us as last in our division....think for a second ATL< WAS<ORL were all better than us last yr and I think MIA will be this year, what last place division team makes the playoffs?!....
maybe Im a doubter, maybe your a homer

Or maybe for some the grass is always greener.
I've seen trade ideas for CV and for Frye, where some are more than willing to deal our starting PG straight up. Yet I go to the Bucks board and they can't wait to ship CV's lazy butt out of Milwaukee. I remember Frye's time in NY where he got the nickname "Charmin" because he's so soft.
I'd much rather stand pat than make a knee jerk trade and get even worse. There isn't very many no brainers out there nor do I trust Jordan to get in and out without getting spanked.
How many games did we miss the playoffs by last year? 5? And that was after the Idiot confused/pissed off all our players and where in the end they flat tuned him out. I consider last year pretty much a waste except for Swish...going from that perspective (and adding in Ammo/May/DJ/Ajinca) I think we're already better. If Ajinca and May can log meaningful minutes we're MUCH better.

8. i really like our players and not just because they play for charlotte, but because almost all of them are likeable, humble, hard working and trouble free.

9. chemistry is underrated as a component of what makes a team successful. we shouldnt make trades that result in a lateral or slight upgrade in perceived talent because the net result after you factor in chemistry issues could potentially be a negative. at this point in our franchise we still need to be prudent with our assets while being patient with our young players' development. as much as it would excite the community for us to make the playoffs, it will only be benificial, long-term, if it is done the right way. its fun to speculate about trades on a message board and too often we view the team as a fantasy football roster. in reality, trading a core member of a team has far reaching effects. i dont want to build this team to make the playoffs once or twice. i want to build the team to make a serious run at the finals one day. as i have discussed on numerous occassions, the only way to compete at that level is to add a superstar, which we dont have. from what i can see, there are no superstars available this summer. be wise with our cap, stockpile assets, target potential superstars in free agency down the road or dont be afraid to blow the team up, collect high draft picks and wait for a lucky draft. adding marginal players through trades only clouds these things (cough nazr) becuase it either eats into out cap space or keeps us from the best picks in the draft. if we didnt make that nazr trade last year, we maybe could have made a play for arenas or brand or maybe boozer next summer.

10. We're still a very young team. We have only one major contributer over the age of 27 or 28 and that is Nazr Mohammed. If you can call him a major contributor. I didn't do the math but I'd say the average age is probably around 25. Also I hate it when a team trades away a young player who doesn't look like their going to pan out and then all of a sudden the lights come on for them.

11. 4 out of 5 Jordan trades end up being better for the other team. I'd rather play the odds (or not play them if you know what I mean)

Frankly, the overlapping points 2) and 11) are the most convincing to me.

They need to make 1 very important trade first and that is trade for a real general manager. MJ is a joke.

Look up who the Bobcat's General Manager is and next time you probably won't look so stupid.
