So... who's pumped about 08-09?

I know I'm pumped about the start of the season. We've now got almost everything we need to be a competitive team in the EC. We're still very young, but I think this is going to be the first year our players are maximized to get the most out of their talents. We finally have a coach with a successful system and I can't wait to see what slashing guys can do like Wallace, J-Rich, and Felton with QUALITY pick and rolls. I also expect us to defend the perimeter and pick'n'rolls much better than previous seasons. Also, how many times over the past years have we seen this team blow open a huge lead only to squander it away and lose? Larry Brown teams don't give up leads like that because he knows how to manage the game. I'm pretty optimistic about this season now that everyone is locked in and we've got injured guys coming back healthy and supposedly ready to go.
Not to mention how hard guys like J-Rich and Felton seem to have been working over the summer. We're missing an all-star type of PF but we pretty much have every other component needed to win games right now. I think we'll be alright and there may be a few things that end up surprising us big time.

I'm like a thrice-dumped former glamor-queen who has to be a bridesmaid for friend after friend, and who is always forced to wear the magenta, the puce, or shuddering blue instead of getting a chance at dazzling white. She wonders what is wrong, if it will ever be her chance, how it can be that the others, those not as pretty, nor as engaging, nor perhaps as interesting, have managed to do what she so far has not been able to accomplish. It burns her up. She has no answer, and in her desperation becomes exactly the sort of person most likely never to wear a wedding dress of her own. Sometimes life is like that. Desperation begets desperation.
Yeah. That's how I feel about the next season.

I'm glad the Okafor thing is done, but I'm still looking forward to seeing this team play a few preseason games before I get really pumped about this season.

Agreed, although I'm used to that since we always (even when we had the Hornets) would get that brutal December west coast road stretch coupled with injuries. Does the schedule come out soon?

Pumped? Well, no, not really.
But I am quietly confident that pieces are in place that the Bobcats went to the gym as a 97-pound weakling and have come out built well enough to handle itself against the bullies.
If 2005 Draft Pick # 13 (a.k.a. Sean May) has a servicable knee, we have the makings of a full fledged starting five. If the knee breaks again, we start hitting on five cylinders.
If our tall skinny bigs can develop some stamina and defense, we could be the "it" team on the rise in the eastern conf.
Those are HUGE ifs. Last year, we had the best first ten games in Bobcats history. Then....crapper city! I'll get pumped when we hit that 34th win. Until then, everybody needs to catch up on their sleep. It's healthy and we will need to be in top form come November.

I was over the moon pumped this time last year - which ended is disaster, so at this stage I am heading into the season cautiously optimistic.

No, I didn't know that... and please don't tell me!

I'm more interested to see the following (then I am pumped about anything);
How Morrison does after a year off AND playing for Larry Brown.
What Sean May can do.
Emeka Okafor, the post "Payday" version.
Will there be a clear cut winner, a default, or a strong competition at PG.
If any of Hollins, Davidson, Weaver, or Ajinca will step up.
How far will Dudley go.
What the Wings can do with Coach Brown.
What will Matts' role be.

I'm just confident we are going the right way. But I don't expect much (this season). I'm looking forward following some players developement. I care more about this than the exact number of wins in 2008/09. Playoffs would be nice but if all the pieces will start fitting each other Larry Brown style I would be satisfied.

Having a better coach helps things out but doesn't excite me. We'll see once training camp starts. I would admit that I am interested in seeing more of JRich and Dj Augustin. These two, along with Okafor might be the core for years to come.

I'm excited about never seeing another offensive possession ending in a punt. That's what I'm most looking forward to with Larry Brown.

I'm a lot more pumped now...guess who's back!

Maybe not
quite back, but she's a finalist. I can't imagine her not making the squad.

good god. wow. she looks good for being locked in your basement for the past year.
this could be the best acquisistion of the offseason.
unfortunately i think jordan will not be back. i havent looked at the finalists to see, but i think she is going back to school. her sister linsey was supposed to try out again though. how do i know this? haha... my secret.

Looks like Linsey is back. Great genes in that family, wow. We know you are stalking Jordan, and sadly, we don't blame you one bit.
Another Lindsey might be my new favorite.
