Haslem for Felton...get it done

Post#1 » by CarolinaCash » Sat Aug 9, 2008 5:25 am

The Heat still want to get rid of Haslem but want a point guard or center in return. We drafted DJ in the lottery.....give him the keys and sign a veteran point guard to help him out. I think the Heat would do it.....just make the salaries match. (send Carroll packing....the Heat want another Kapono)

This is a very interesting idea to me. I'd like to know who we would sign as a replacement at PG though. If it's gonna be another McInnis type situation then I dunno. If we could get a legit vet who's play could warrant his minutes then I'd lean towards pulling the trigger because I really like Haslem.

My only regret in this deal is that we wouldn't get to see what LB could do with Felton. We've given him all this time and while he hasn't impressed me or become consistent enough for my taste LB may actually be able to help him improve into the PG we need. Of course if it'd turn out into more of the same thing we've seen the last 3 years (which is most likely imo, although I am an admitted cynic) and DJ is right on his heels then I would really regret not moving him for Haslem in a real scenario.

Haslem would fit perfectly.

Decent Jumpshot
Good in Rotation "D"
Guards perimeter bigs well
Decent Post defense on PF's

Obviously he's not a scorer but we can't be too picky.

I might be missing something but I've never seen what makes people rate Haslem so high?

Heh, who is this "veteran" PG we'd be bringing in? Tinsley?

I wouldn't even consider this...we FINALLY have good PG depth and we want to throw that away on Haslem? He's just a MLE type guy (which means he's overpaid) that you can find all over the league.

If you want a similar player for half the price why not go after Mikki Moore? Per 36 Haslem has Moore by a rebound and is less by half a point. Moore has a much better FG% AND he's non-guaranteed after next year.

What in the world is with this fascination of Haslem? I don't see why we give up an average (at worst) PG for a marginal big man.

I dont understand why people are so ready to get rid of Felton. Why get rid of an average point guard just to go look for another one

i second this
why trade a half decent pg for haslem. in any situation wouldn't it make more sense if your going to trade felton to actually recieve another pg in return? And i would hate to see what tinsley would do to this team....he's not the answer

I like Haslem better than Varejao but I love West so this deal is a no brainier for me. I wouldn't even have to think twice.

i like the av deal better than the haslem deal (mainly because we'd be getting west in return), although i would be a little scared of the offensive ineptitude of av and okafor together. somebody figure out a 3-way deal that gets us haslem and west. for felton and nazr.

i dont have much interest at all in going into the season w/ dj as the starter and some hack free agent as the backup.

well from the guys i've seen talked about how about this...(not sure if it works tho)
cavs trade: av, west
cavs recieve: mohammed, banks

bobcats trade: mohammed, felton
bobcats recieve: haslem, west

heat trade: haslem, banks
heat recieve: av, felton

again this can't happen until december because of av contract....and i doubt the cavs do this cause their biggest problem is their guards....
but gets the trade done for the bobcats and i think miami would go for it...but av not being a scorer might not get them to do this trade

Haslem's one of the best role-playing big men in the league

Defensively, despite being undersized, he's quite good and well-rounded, being All-NBA defense 2nd team level. He's a good rebounder, has a good mid-range shot, not useless posting up (effective on occasion), decent finisher, pretty smart passer, notable toughness, plays hard all the time, kind of a deceptive athlete, good playoff experience. Definitely is my kind of player, and one of my favorite players around.

He's definitely a valuable player to have on your team, and I think is paid relatively right - he's an above-average complementary big man. Compared to stars, that's simply not fair or relevant with Haslem, because he's far from an all-star caliber player. But compared to other role-playing bigs, he's ranks highly.

Would I give up Felton for him? I'd lean to not, and a better PF can be had later on, somehow. If the deal was done? I think somewhat better could of been recived than Haslem, but I also wouldn't really mind, and would love Haslem on this team (as I would anywhere).

 8-) :D Guys we need to keep Felton our outside/backcourtwill now be solid and you can rotate Felton to the #2 and pair with DJ to give him the minutes. Haslem has good numbers ,But he is not a Boozer. The decision comes back to Wallace? He gives us 20 pts 6 REbs and 5+ assists per game ,but how long will that go on before Crash crashs? We need to trade him now why he has value for a Quality #4 and move Dudley to #3 with morrison backing up.

For the last time Felton is a PG. Putting him at the 2 has not and never will work. Felton is a PG. Get it?

Felton for Haslem may work, but Miami wouldn't want to touch Carroll with a 10-foot pole. -- There's a reason why we didn't overpay Kapono, and there's no reason why we'd want to take the rest of Carrol's deal.

:o  The facts: :D Knicks have players they want to deal ---Marbury----Lee---Chandler?
Heat want to deal Haslem pf/sf? for a point and throw ins
Bobcats need a pf and have Carroll and Wallace With big salaieries

Bobcats send Wallace/Carroll to Knicks for Wilson Chandler ,David Lee, and Marburry and NYK 2009 1st round pick and then Felton/Lee to Heat for Haslem and Kasib powell or earl barron
Everybody wins
Bobcats then have all positions covered and marbury contract for 1 year while dj develops.
Think about this one .
