hey, hawks fan here.

i keep reading about how wallace's and richardson's games don't seem to mesh well. could you tell me what their games look like. i'm trying to remember them from their games against the hawks and i can't really remember them playing together (it was more like they were doing their own things individually and that it combined to around 38 pts.) you think it could be why you lost more games that you should have. and if so, what's the solution, does one of them change the way they play or do you look at trade possibilites to better fit the cast?

They are awesome together and will be even better now they have a season under their belts with each other making them one of the best wing combo's in the league.

Not sure where you read they didn't mesh well together?

Link?

Of course, if you wanted to trade Joe Johnson straight up for one or the other, I'd be all over that!!

;)

I think a lot of that talk got started because we went on that run when Crash was injured. JRich really stepped it up a notch so people assumed Crash was holding him back.

Not sure I'd agree that they don't play well together, but there does seem to be a little Alpha Dog issue on the offensive end. No worries though, LB will fix any of those real issue, if they even really exist.

A trade seems unlikely, we wont get decent value for either....

Crash doesn't seem like the type to care too much about getting shots. He forced some things last year but I think it was more because he was trying to make things happen then selfishness.

I don't think Crash will ever be a "give-him-the-ball-and-get-out-of-the-way" kind of player, he doesn't have a great one-on-one game. (Except when he's guarded by 4's who cant stay in front of him to save their life) That said, he's terrific at finishing what other people start, And an elite perimeter defensive player.

Jrich has a much better one-on-one game, although I think he's better coming off screens or as a spot up shooter off double teams. Not nearly the defensive player Crash is, but not for lack of trying.

Neither one has great handles, Crash is okay....

Crash can't guard bigs....

What else?

GWall is absurdly awful when it comes to passing in transition/fast break situations. Simply put, he never passes up the ball when he's got it on the move. It's frustrating sometimes.

Thats your concern with Gerald Wallace? the Fact that "he doesn't pass the ball when hes got in on the move"?

Wallace and Richardson can work very well together. My main concern is that they both averaged over 38 minutes a game last year. I realize that it has a lot to do with May and Morrison being out all of last year. But especially with Gerald, 38 is too much. I'm not saying they should be averaging 32 minutes a game, but somewhere in the middle is where each should be.

I mean Okafor got 33 minutes a game last year with a less deep frontline then the teams wing posistions.

I don't stay up late worrying about it. But GWall has some weaknesses to his game. In my view, this is the most obvious and honestly the most annoying. It would be easy for him to swing it to the other side for an uncontested layup or dunk instead of always, always, driving up against 1 or 2 or 3 opponents and hoping for the best.

It's not a big deal, and certainly not a deal-breaker (I like GWall), but it is incredibly irritating.

i'd like to see crash's minutes limited to about 30. i think he is more effective when he is fresh. we have the depth on the wing to do that.

I think there's an issue with them, in the sense that neither one of them has any kind of in-between game, and neither one is a good handler or passer. I think that can be a substantial weakness, because inevitably the halfcourt offense requires someone other than the PG to attempt to handle or pass, and the fact that no one on the team can hit the midrange J is a significant issue.

That's not to say they're incompatible or anything, but they aren't exactly ideally suited either.

They don't mess together....becasue????

I think it is because they cannot get the wins, but isn't NBA a 5 players game?
