The "experts" Don't Like Us

Well, at least Hollinger thinks we might be Playoff bound. But from the looks of our Preseason so far, the others are closer. Someone better get their crap together real quick, or this season will slip away.

They are largely more clueless than the fact they don't like us. Unlike their NFL experts who are in the know, both the NBA department and fantasy NBA department are severely lacking. If you looked at most of the experts predictions, they predict the exact same thing will happen as last year except maybe Miami or Chicago will sneak into the playoffs. The fantasy report on Okafor is draft late because of huge injury concerns (when he played 82 games last year), yet they say don't sleep on May (when he missed 82 games last year). They all seem to think Brown will implode based on his stint with the Knicks, and they don't think Augustin will get many minutes because he didn't play Darko. What a bunch of idiots.

These people are all expected to be "experts" on about 6 sports and the net result is that they are "experts" on the dime-store conventional wisdom. I'd love to quiz these people for about 30 seconds, just to prove the extent of their Bobcat knowledge.

Agreed in much of what you both say. but Facts are facts and these facts stink. We and Miami are the 2 winless teams so far. Miami is 0-4 and Charlotte is 0-6. But my concern is the pt differential. Miami is -4.0 while Charlotte is -11.8. That sucks badly!

I don't categorically disagree with anybody who says the cats aren't that good. My problem is the stupid cliche points they make to back it up.

- Mek is "injury prone" but Cookie is a "sleeper"
- Larry Brown hates young players because a guy who was/is terrible (Milic) couldn't get minutes on a championship level team
- Larry did a bad job in NY and the Olympics, Really??! does anybody really blame the Knicks on LB??!
- The Bobcats are "already complaing" about LB's system??! Flat-out made up, counter-factual...

-Adande says:
"He hasn't gotten the max from a team since 2004."
You mean when he won the Championship? so LB has coached 3 years of NBA basketball since 2004 and two of those teams went to the finals... I can't speak for every Bobcat fan but I wouldn't be disappointed if he only took us to the finals 2 out of 3 years.

You'll notice all their critiques are extremely vague:

"this roster is just too weak"
"If this roster had fewer holes"

nothing too specific because they don't know anything specific

cliche, cliche, cliche, platitude, platitude, platitude....

The media on all fronts, not just sports is hacktacular right now.....

I never really take too much from what the "Experts" say. These are the same guys that randomly pick the teams in the NBA finals such and are only right when its obvious.

The team is weak up front, so are many teams.

PG. We actually have two pretty solid options. How they do working for Brown is anyones guess. But this is still the best its ever been. Say what you want about Felton, hes not that bad. Hes got pretty solid, but not great, numbers.

Primoz Brezec is not a Bobcat anymore, neither is McInnis.

The Bobcats still play in the East.

35 to 42 wins for this season. Thats my guess. But alas, I am not an expert.

No kidding. I mean, the "experts" have never liked us - so this is nothing new.

It's the "cool" thing to talk smack about us. I doubt any of those guys looked closely enough or took the time to know enough about us to have an informed opinion.

And now we are the only team without a win. Something has to change.

I have to say that the people who pick us to finish 15th have to be crazy... last? Really? We're not better than the Nets or Knicks or Bucks?

That said, picking us to go ~11th is a pretty reasonable suggestion. Basing it on Okafor's injuries isn't the best logic, nor is suggesting anything but an improvement by bringing in Larry Brown. Frankly, vague comments like "holes in the roster" (is this not what we are constantly posting about?) and "Not sure the others on the roster have it in them right now" are pretty much all you can say. This team, based on past results, simply isn't very talented. If we get major improvements from someone, maybe we're a playoff team, but absent proof of that, why should anyone predict us to make the playoffs?

Also, Okafor is perpetually drafted too high in fantasy, they're absolutely right about him. He won't bust, and it won't be because of injury, but he always is that next-tier guy (after the Howards and Duncans and Yaos of the world) that gets snatched by a team paranoid about not having a good C. May is a decent sleeper, too... if he plays, he's going to produce, and I think you have to be a pretty big Bobcats fan to know that May has ever played at all, let alone well.

10th-12th is not ridiculous considering what happened last year. But these guys clearly don't know the first thing about the Cats, and they get payed a lot of money to do just that.

Watch:

The Cats have some good wings, but only one proven big (Okafor) and inconsistent PG play.

Prediction:12th in the east

The Hornets....er...."Bobcats" just lack that special something. They lack "Mojo," They lack "Je ne se quois," oh... and Hall-of fame coach Larry Brown is not fit to coach the under 8 YMCA team, and should die in a fire"

Prediction: 12th in the east

Same prediction, but which writer knows something about the Bobcats?

Right now, we can't argue with any of that. Once we get into a groove and comfortable with the LB system, this team will be right there with the middle of the pack. Look at it this way, the pick we wasted by grabbing Alexis with - if we end up the lotto again can maybe pick us up a decent big man for once.

I totally disagree with what they are saying. We had MUCH more ability last year than our final record showed but a combination of an idiot for a head coach, season ending injuries before the season started to two main role/bench players and a poor schedule had us playing well under where we should/could have been.

This year, while it might take some time to hit our groove and adjust to a "real" coach, not only are we better than where we were this time last year, but we are pretty much healthy, have a real head coach and Swish has had a chance to put a year with his new team under his belt.

Most people, including these fools, still base their info on things they saw back in 2004.
