The Nets continue to be in trade discussions with Charlotte, which is desperate for frontcourt help, but they don't have the expendable post player Larry Brown wants. The Bobcats are willing to part with Gerald Wallace for a player of consequence, but are more actively pushing Matt Carroll or Adam Morrison, mindful that the Nets are shooter-crazy these days.

If we are trading Crash, how about something like:

Crash and Ammo
for
Simmons and Lopez

Simmons has been stinking it up in Jersey so they bring in Crash as Carters new running mate. Crash makes less that Simmons - who makes less than **** (which is why they traded him) plus maybe the Nets look to move Carter to create more cap space and bring in LBJ over the summer teaming him with the better 2nd option player in Crash (who is cheaper again than Carter). Plus they have a slew of bigs.

Ultimatley they would hope for:

Harris
LBJ
Crash
Yi
Boone

We get the low post scorer we need plus get out of a couple of years of Crash's contract (Simmons deal is shorter).

Felts
Swish
Simmons
EO50
Lopez

I would rather we have Ammo as our starting SF if Wallace gets dealt personally. I like the idea of getting Lopez back, but that trade kinda sucks. Simmons has a crappy contract and he's not really any good. Maybe we can finally give them Sean May.

Simmons has a contract that expires at the end of next season - which would give us $10 million to "play with" in the big '10 summer FA sweep stakes.

No way would I play Ammo at the 3 if we moved Crash for anything more than spot mins. He'd make our suspect D even more suspect.

Who is Simmons? No way I would trade Adam Morrison and GWallace for that junk that BigSlam proposed. Adam Morrison is making strides and it's way too early to dump him in some trade as an add on. I wouldn't trade Morrison or Wallace for that package by themselves.

Morrison would be a better starter and needs the minutes. He is one of the few on this team thats not totally incompetent on offense. And he needs to hit his rhythm.

I'd be down with giving Ammo the start and 30 minutes a night. His D hasn't been that bad. Our O is the bigger problem right now, and Felton, Wallace, Okafor, and (insert PF here) are just garbage at this point.

Just trade Carroll for Sean Williams and something else to match the contract.......please.

I'd pass on Simmons... He done nothing bar be a cripple since his Clipper days, and I apologise to all cripples for comparing them to Simmons.

I wouldn't mind Najera, problem is there would be a wait until Dec 15.

EDIT: Looking at the Nets roster there isn't much there I'd like. Probably the extent I'd look at is a McMay for Willams and they'd have to chuck in Ager to make it work. Hell, I'd chuck back some coin to get rid of McMay and they can use that to waive his huge rear-end

If before next draft someone said "we'll trade a top ten pick to you for Gerald Wallace and you don't have to take any salary back" 99% of us would be all over it.

We get Lopez for Crash and $10 mil in cap room because Simmons comes off the books next summer - which makes a potential big player in the FA stakes.

Sure, we lose Ammo, but who cares? What if an extension to the deal is that we trade EO50 next season for a good return and then we are in a position to sign someone like Joe Johnson next summer, or Chris Bosh, or Wade etc?

Don't look at Simmons as the kicker in the deal. He's not, at least not for what he can doont he court. He's there just to make the $$$$ work. The kicker is that he comes off the books real soon and frees up a boat load of money for us to build this team the right way.

Nets fan here. Just to give you guys a perspective, Brook Lopez is probably the most highly valued player on our team (in terms of trading him away). Either he or Devin Harris. So as a nets fan I would not trade Lopez at all.

I love wallace i think if they are going to trade him just do it and stop dick around...everyweek its a new story...the nets dont have a post player worth wallace anyway outside of lopez...and if it was like that **** we could have drafted him....only thing i can see is sean williams coming this way...they are about to send him to the d-league anyway

While I disagree with you on Morrison hurting us as the starting SF, this scenario sounds better to me after you put it that way. Right now the way free agency is setting up, cap room is more valuable than a middle of the pack PF. If we've got room to make an offer to any of those big name guys, we need to do it.

But as for Morrison hurting us on defense, sure we would suffer in that department (though less if we played better team D), we can't score right now. When Wallace gets the ball at the top of the key, he holds it for like 5-8 seconds and if there's nothing going on he settles for a low % shot of some sort. Morrison can score, and there's been times where he's been hot for us this year and contributed to the few wins. If he gets more of an opportunity to do that, and we lean towards him as more of a main option, then I think that helps us more than it hurts us.

There is no way Lopez should be considered in the same ballpark of value as Harris, but I understand that the Nets wouldn't want to part with him. Still, you'd turn down Gerald Wallace for him? I feel like that should be pretty appealling, a Harris-VC-Crash combo would be pretty strong in my opinion.

I don't think it's a bad deal for us either... it's a rebuilding move for sure, but that seems to be where this team should be headed. Lose some, get a good draft pick, take BPA and hope for the best.

Besides, Simmons is injury prone but might not be terrible... he's definitely a good shooter, and is supposed to be an okay defender, which is enough to contribute in a rotation with Dudley/Morrison/Carroll for a year and a half.

Any deal with New Jersey involving Wallace and Lopez as the principals gets my approval.

Having said that, I don't think NJ is going to be willing to part with Lopez.

Agree that Jersey hangs onto Lopez. You might have pulled that deal off pre-season but not now. They need a young big to build around and he is that (could have been ours but....).

I have this whole master plan figured out in my head that would take WAY too much room to post but it basically ends with the nets having a line up at the start of 2010's season of Harris - LBJ - Crash - Yi - Boone and us with Felts (or DJ) - Joe Johnson - Swish - Lex (for eg) - Lopez and still with an amount of cap room (again) and future picks to spend and use on the "right" players!!

I think this trade and discussion would be worth posting on the Nets board since I don't want to crown myself the NJ Nets Real GM spokesman. The opinions may somewhat vary.

Haha, how did I know this would end up with Joe Johnson in a Bobcats uni? So does your plan have us dealing Okafor at some point?

Look the Nets ain't giving up Lopez so if a deal is gonna get done it's gonna have to be Wallace for simmons, boone, and our Golden State 1st rounder or Swift, Hassell, and the 1st rounder other than that you can keep Wallace.

If you wanted Lopez you should have drafted him instead Jordan listened to LB and took Augustine which was a dumb move considering you had felton already.

Augustin is better than Felton, and Felton is on a way out. Not a dumb move. We have Okafor already....why draft Lopez? Does that make any sense to you? Didn't think so.
