An advance scout from another Eastern Conference team who sees the Bobcats often says Okafor lacks the moves and the lift to be much more than he is offensively. He gets his shot blocked often, the scout says, because though he's 6-9, most of his attempts are from below the rim.

That same advance scout says there's currently no reason to double-team a Bobcat. You can guard anyone on the active roster one-on-one without fear of giving up a 30-point night.


If opponents don't have to double the post or give help on a drive, they can stay outside guarding the Bobcats' shooters. What, you thought it was a surprise they're 25th among 30 teams in 3-point percentage (31.2%)?

Even when the screen is legal, teams have successfully zoned the play, suggesting the big man isn't rolling efficiently enough to the basket to create a mismatch against a guard.

The Bobcats have the second-worst shooting percentage in the league (42.2 percent); the easiest way to raise that is by scoring more transition layups.

A faster paced offense would help - which I guess is transition points.

Getting Swish back would also be a big help.

agreed. my biggest fear about LB was that he would slow the game down to a crawl. i was hoping that he would at least try to keep us in the middle 3rd in terms of pace. i had no idea he would slow things down this much.

what is the point of playing a small lineup when you make no attempt to use your speed and quickness as an advantage?

from a fans viewpoint, watching our games is painful. i can see why the arena is empty. we are amazingly boring. only a hardcore fan of the team could subject themselves to 4 quarters of walking the ball up the court, dribbling and passing for 22 seconds before launching a bad shot with 2 seconds on the shot clock.

Set the offense to the players strengths while helping them build upon their BBall IQ. Crazy isn't it? Why doesn't LB try it?

LOL, I agree 100%. This team is constructed to score in transition. When you're undersized, that's sort of your only option anyway. The walk the ball up the court thing never gets us anywhere because we have no size, we don't post, we don't set picks, we can't really shoot, and we've got poor spacing.

Because LB plays "the right way" circa 1950 or so.....

In all seriousness LB ball is rooted in the slower styles that were played prior to the last decade of rules changes. He isn't exactly known for his flexiblity either.

the rule changes have really hurt the NBA in my opinion. I can't find anyone who doesn't think the NBA was much better in the 90's than it is now, a lot of it being due to the rule changes and not talent. If anything, there's more talent now than there was back then in the league.

what always baffles me is LB comes from the dean smith school of bball... but dean and most of his disciples make/made use of running and playing fast paced.

There playing the raptors tonight, who have been struggling with there defence lately, look for charlotte to have a good game.

They need to commit to continue developing Emeka Okafor as a post up threat and as a pick and role partner for DJ Augustin. Now maybe he just can't get much better then he was last year and the year before which I don't think is true but they were far better off getting at least his 15 PPG on 11 shots then they are getting his 10 PPG on 7 shots playing this way.

Call me crazy but i'm of the opinion that Okafor has it in him to reach 16-18 PPG on 11-12 shots and bigs have improved at the line from being 50-55% guys into being 67-72% types in their late 20's before like Webber.

I just don't see the downside of continued development of a player the franchise just invested 70 mil into through what should be the rest of Okafor's prime. Keep working at it and get the front office to swing a trade for one of the available PF's in the league like a Joe Smith, Nick Collison, Charlie Villanueva, Chris Wilcox, Drew Gooden, etc.

Pray for Blake Griffin or some other stud in the draft but until then keep working with Okafor.

Okafor/the other big on the floor need to set picks so that DJ can rub his man off (no homo) while going to the left side. This is the side he wants to go to, don't set the pick at all otherwise, it doesn't get used.
