What team would you NOT trade the Bobcat Players for?

Post#1 » by fluffernutter » Fri Dec 5, 2008 6:45 pm

I was thinking this the other day...

Considering the Bucks...

I just don't like 'em. Just don't.

If you asked me to trade all our players for all their players, I would say no.

Are there any other teams out there that you would NOT swap players with (the swap is all players from team X for all our players)?

The Thunder- 3 good players (who are shooting 45%, 42%, 35% from the field) and then a huge dropoff. Of course the team would then have somewhat of a frontcourt, not a good one though.

The Nets- Wouldn't really be much of a tradeoff. You'd be banking on keeping Carter. Is that a good thing?

Is this including salary situations? If not then...

Bucks
Nets (Don't like VC)
Wolves
Clips
Knicks
76ers (Boring)
Kings
Thunder
Wizards
Pacers
Warriors
Nuggets (Don't like Melo)
Pistons

Some of these teams have certain players I'd like but the overall package I don't care for.

I've always kind of saw them as a "given", but yeah them too.

Would totally trade rosters with the TFKAS... Durant alone is a star, and they have tons of picks and salary flexibility.
Who I woulda took:
2023: Miller | 2022: Duren | 2021: Bouknight, Jones | 2020: Ball | 2019: PJ | 2018: MPJ | 2017: Monk | 2016: Damian Jones | 2015: Winslow | 2014: Vonleh, Napier | 2013: McLemore | 2012: MKG | 2011: Knight, Kawhi

Those draft picks would be made by Michael Jordan.

Every player worth keeping is still in their rookie contracts. 8 players under contract next year. They are; Collison, Watson, Durant, Westbrook, Green, Wilkens, White, and Weaver. So they'll be adding more youth to a team that needs more experience. The nice thing is that after next season they should still be looking at a top 5 pick.

I also want to add a team. The Western Conference given, the Clippers.

To add one thing kind of the topic. Jason Hart still being in the NBA suprises me. For the most part he plays pretty crappy (see every season except the 04/05 season and the games he played for the Clippers in 06/07) but then he puts together a decent season (through mostly luck; Bobcats lack of guard depth and injured Clippers) and he extends his stay a bit longer. In a weird way its similar to how Jerome James used to suddenly be good in contract seasons. The only thing stranger is that Kevin Ollie is a 12 year NBA veteran.

Wow gotta disagree with most of you guys. If you're not taking salary into account, then I guess you're just saying which rosters you think will win more games this season, which is a much bigger list than "which team would you not trade for."

Including youth and salary, teams I would clearly not prefer:
Milwaukee
NY Knicks
Minnesota
LA Clippers
Sacramento
Indiana (Granger is a beast, but not quite enough of one to make this situation preferable)
Washington (If Gilbert is still Gilbert, though, I think the path to the title for Washington is quicker and clearer than our current one)

Teams you would have to be insane not to trade for:
Boston
LA Lakers
Cleveland
Portland

Teams you'd be at least a little bit crazy not to trade for:
Atlanta
Orlando
Toronto
New Orleans
Houston
San Antonio
Utah

Teams with some negatives but clearly superior talent and/or a dominant player:
Miami
Philadelphia
Denver
Phoenix
Dallas
Detroit

Teams with enormous potential/youth:
Chicago
OKC
Memphis
Golden State

I just freaking hate the Bucks. I've hated them ever since the 2002 playoffs. F them, their city is ugly, they have players who annoy me, plus they now have richard jefferson. If I could pick one player to just put into the stands with my shoulder it would be him.

Sorry for the rant, I had to get it out.

There's a lot of teams in a worse situation than us. You'd have to pick a team like the Lakers though. They're younger than Boston and have the most complete lineup.

I do realize that the Thunder have a great young roster, but I just don't see them being able to hang onto it. Also, I think if the BOBcats had that roster...i think we'd lose a good chunk of it.

I really wanted to believe that Okafor would get kept, but deep down...I was really thinking the Bobcats were going to lose him. Thank god for every GM thinking "small ball", "Moneyball" and "2010".

I don't know why you'd think they would fail to hold onto their players... it's easy to keep players you draft, since you always have more money to offer them. Even LeBron, who has more incentive to leave the team that drafted him than anyone in basketball, is still more likely to end up on the Cavs than any other team in 2010.

The Thunder will keep Durant, Westbrook, and Green, draft in the top 5 this year, and be looking good with a low payroll for another couple seasons. In effect, they are the Atlanta Hawks circa 2006... pile up a couple lotto picks, have some of them pan out, sign one awesome free agent with your huge reserves of cash, and away you go. I see the Thunder drafting Griffin or whoever, sucking another year, getting one more lottery pick, and then in 2010 throwing a max contract at somebody. Probably not going to get Wade or Bosh or LeBron, but some guy who's 26 and looking like a budding star (who knows who that is by then).

That's maybe a tough path, and a lot can go wrong, like picking badly or having your FA not pan out. But it's no worse than our current one, which is to dedicate 47m to Okafor/Wallace/JRich/Mohammed/Carroll and hope that takes you to the promised land.

My list was just teams I'd rather not watch due to either certain players or play style which is how Denver, Detroit and Philly who are good teams and a few young teams like OKC ended up on my list.

One team I personally wouldn't swap players with would be the Sacramento Kings. Honestly I think they're one of the least remarkable teams in the league this season. I really don't mean any offense to any Kings fans if they're are any here but I try to keep up with every team in the league and I've watched them a few times on the League Pass but I have to admit sometimes I tend to forget that they're even a team in the NBA. I mean they have a good player in Martin and two young talents in Hawes and Thompson but I just don't see them going anywhere anytime soon, at least I don't think they'll be any better than Charlotte anytime in the near future.
