Dec 16th Hammers: Bobcats Vs Bulls

Post#1 » by BigSlam » Wed Dec 17, 2008 2:44 am

Image - DJ. He's a stud. 'Nuff said

Image - EO50. When you man up like that, you make it SO much harder for teams to beat us.

Image - Twiggy. Could have gone 1 of 3 ways, but I've gone with Twiggy. I thought he was HUGE when he came in.

Highlight of the night: Had a choice of MANY tonight (nice change!) but went with EO50's very 1st block in the 1st qtr on a Rose dunk attempt.

Feels good to win!

Gold - DJ - finally someone who can get to the line consistently
Silver - Felton - played well most of the game and hit a big shot in OT
Okafor - Came through big with the game on the line, awesome blocks on Rose

3 - DJ
2 - Okafor (3 blocks, 2 steals, 20 points... games like these are when I think we already have our star)
1 - Hollins... I almost went with Diaw, but Thomas had a really great game and 8 poitns and 3 blocks in 15 minutes is pretty impressive.

Gold- DJ
Silver- Okafor, big in OT
Bronze- Felton

I need to note that Bulls have the worst announcers Ive ever had to listen to, I know most announcers are homers to their teams but those comcast announcers were way over the top on homerism, and just terrible, and complaining about every single call. DJ WAS FOULED IDIOTS, end rant

Gold: DJ. 29 pts 2 reb and 7 assists. Had to do it against the top draft pick and top PG from the draft and he dominated tonight! (Get better on the FG%, OK?)

Silver: Ray: 21 pts 6 reb 7 assists and 3 steals; a very solid night (get better on the FG % , OK?)

Bronze: Okafor. 20 pts 13 reb 3 stls 4 blks. What I want my Center to do every game! Great game!

Honorable Mention:
Diaw with 15 pts 7 reb and 4 assists
Hollins with 8 pts 2 reb and 3 blks
Howard with 8 pts and 5 reb; did his damage at important times in the game.

*Bell, if you were playing at all respectable, I would really really love the trade. As for now, it is still OK, but get your act together. Did you forget how to shoot? Practice man. We're talking about practice!

I'm loving the rotation of Felts, Twiggy and Howard in the Hammers. Diaw could have been considered as well. Even Hammer did some good stuff.

Just shows how well most of the team played.

3- DJ (best rookie on the court)
2-Mek (blocks at the end were HUGE)
1- my boy Hammer worked his butt off (for LB to keep him in the entire 4th and OT tells you that he liked what he saw)

HM:Ray (played really well, a little too trigger happy for me, but played well)
HM: Howard looked good early, I think he will really help when he gets his legs back

G - DJ. He was awesome tonight. Clutch too. 13-13!?! Phenomenal.
S - Mek. Not a great night at the line but an eraser on defense.
B - Felts. He had to chase around Gordon all night and played 50 mins. His FG% was still better than DJ's but didn't shoot 7 3's. DJ was clearly the better player tonight but we don't win this game without Ray.
HM - Diaw

How people chose anyone besides these 4 is amazing to me. People chose Hollins and he only played 15mins. Are you kidding me? Those 4 played over 40mins and are the reasons we won the game.

I am really starting to like the Felts/DJ backcourt, I just wish they didn't get stuck firing up shot clock beaters.

That first quarter set basketball back 40yrs. With 3mins to go, we were on pace for 25pts in the entire game. Thankfully that changed.

Some could easily counter with "how people chose Felton for a Hammer is amazing to me. He "guarded" Gordon who was the Bulls highest scorer (and who also had 5 assists) and took some really poor shots.

Not that I would, but some might!!

That's the great things about Hammers. They are your own to give out how you see fit.

Ya know, every other year we tried the dual PG (well Ray at SG, the other guy BK or Mcwinless at PG) I effing hated it and couldn't stand it. DJ and Ray play well together because DJ is actually a good PG where as the other two clowns were not. I think they actually make eachother better. They both take some out of control shots sometimes, but they both can also get into the paint. I'm liking DJ's 3 pt shot a lot better than Rays, but Felton is having a phenomenal defensive year which should not be overlooked.

I just wish we had more sources of offense because those periods of nothing really hurt us.

Slam pretty much covered why I didn't choose Felton... if you're not bringing defense, and you shoot badly, you're probably not getting a hammer unless everyone else did nothing.

I think Hammers would get pretty boring if only people who play over 30 mpg are eligible.

Gold - DJ. I thought he showed a lot of poise in the 4th quarter. He got a lot of good calls from the refs (something we're not used to) and he nailed the FTs. He also played pretty decent D on Rose. He got around him a lot but he gets around everyone. Thankfully Rose kept trying to be like Felton and take it for himself giving Mek a nice block line. 3 pt shooting was awesome, midrange not so much. 7 to 1 A/T is sweet.

Silver - Felton. He shot 41% with is about average for him, got 3rd most rebounds for the team (6) and had 3 steals. He also logged in 50 minutes defending against their best scorer after putting in 39 minutes last night.

Bronze - Mek. I thought he cheated a lot and threw up some wild shots (but he wasn't the only one), but he was very solid on the boards and he came up big in the end.

HM - Diaw...decent game, but he struggled staying with Deng. I think I like him best as a PF
HM2 - Twiggy...very good 15 minutes from him. Very nice to see all that energy actually work with the game of basketball.

Gold: DJ, he is a baller he needs to get the ball in crunch time
Silver: Felton, I have to say...I like him better at the the 2 but thats just me
Bronze: Okafor, Solid performance

HW: Hollins, he has to get more PT maybe 20 min. a game, but he is coming out and making plays when he is out there.

Gold - DJ, hard not to give it to Mek
Silver - Mek
Bronze - Hollins, this is hard, Diaw would probably win it without the 4 TO's and I thought long and hard about Felton, but I think he just holds the ball too long and shoots too much.
