Read that this morning, and first thought was "no way they'd trade both those guys for Felton". I think Nellie loves Randolph's potential. Wright had chances to earn some serious minutes this year but has not become the player they hoped for. Frankly I'd take either player, and would LOVE both. Felton does help us at times, but he is not in our long term plans.
They do sort of play the same position, but Wright is a bigger forward physically. If we get Wright would we play him at the 4 and Diaw at the 3? Or would Randolph play the 3 with Diaw at the 4? Does this precipitate or anticipate a Crash trade for a BIG? No trade?
MY MIND IS RACING!! WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN???
Let's speculate as to what the final deal of players would be for Felton. I seriously doubt we get both of those guys.

do it!
2 young athletic big guys for a 6 foot shoot first point guard who shoots 30 percent from 3? This would be an awesome trade for the Bobcats.
Make Augustin the PG and never look back. Sign a 2 guard in the off season or use the draft. Or actually give Carroll some consistent time. Or use Bell.

if i had a choice it would be wright cause he fits the problems we have the most....he is long and can jump, reb and dunk when he is anywhere near the rim..thats all we need him to do really

hell, I'd take 1 of those guys for Felton. Felton is just a very flawed player. He's been given a lot of time to show what he has and it ain't working out. Ship him out.

I know what you mean!!
I have no idea what direction this team is headed in any more. Just got to hold on and enjoy the ride I guess?
One thing is for sure though - As great as he has been, I don't know who I feel about a PG rotation of DJ and Singletary!!

If it's one or the other I think I'd have to choose Wright, for the reasons previously stated...., BUT, Randolph has some crazy potential. So far his shooting % as a rookie is HORRIBLE, from the field and the foul line. He will take longer to develop but has a bigger upside. Wright will always be an undersized 4 (physically), yet I'm not enamored with him playing the 3. Worse case scenario we use either of these guys off the bench until they develop enough game to start. Randolph could become a terror at the 3 if he ever got a shot. I wonder if his numbers would improve by concentrating on the 4? I suspect so, but he'll need to really build some bulk to play that spot.
Assuming Diaw is a keeper at the 4, doing what he does well (point-forward, defend and score with a little rebounding thrown in) I'm not sure how these guys fit within the current mix. Gotta be more deals, ESPECIALLY IF WE'D GET BOTH. Maybe a 3-way sending one of those fellows with Crash for a BIG-BIG?

by Felton for Pres
First off, I don't think Rick was implying it could be for both guys. I probably put more value on Felton than anyone and even I think that is crazy. If you can get both, you do it and deal with the logjam. That would be a good problem to have. You could trade Morrison (sorry Steve) for a backup PG and give Randolph his minutes.
However, my biggest concern is the same as Slam's. That PG rotation is a little scary.
I'll ask the same question we all thought with the JRich trade...do we think this is the most we can get for Felts (assuming its one of those guys)?
My hope is that this starts a tiny bidding war and someone steps in and takes Nazr too.

I would have actually much prefered Randolph over Wright but now we have Diaw it would be a double up in talent to bring in Randolph IMO.
Of course I see Randolph as a 4 and not a 3.
Play him at the 4, Lex at the 5 and have the skinniest 4/5 combo in the history of the NBA!

Just hope its for Wright and hope the trade goes threw. Then the Cats have something to look forward to. You know Wallace would be next to go if that happens. Probably for a 2. Bell can't be there longterm solution.

Wow! great news if true. I was about to say that I definately prefer Wright, but looking at the stats right now, I didn“t realize what an obscenely good rebounder Randolph is. Either one would be ok. Who knows what they could do with actual "coaching," unlike Nellie who does little more than say when they go in the game.
As for the back-up pg, we already have him. His name is Shannon Brown. We need to get him more minutes anyway. You can even have Diaw bring the ball up when he is in the game if you like.
It's not even so bad for Gstate actually. I think Felton would be much better running up and down in their system.

I also think that Felts and Monta would be an awesome pairing in the back court.

As a diehard unc fan and a major Felton fan, i'd have to still make this trade. Sadly, Ray doesnt look to be getting better on his shooting touch, and DJ while throwing up some clunkers has a better touch at the rim. DJ is going to have to get better on the D side of the ball but, we could live with him and a decent back up if it would net us a PF who could play well.

Well Shannon Brown is not the answer. He is a terrible locker room guy and just one of those guys that just plays and doesn't do anything to get better
I think that they should throw in Marcus Williams and he should be the backup pg. That would make alot of sence for both teams.
If this trade doesn't go threw they need to package Wallace and Felton and get something because Wallace is clearly gonna go. I just hope they trade him for a player and not an expiring contract.

You prefer Williams to Brown?
Williams who has played all of 40 minutes this year on a team desperate for a PG?(and looked bad in all 40)
Brown has looked pretty good this year, offensively and defensively. He has a PER higher than Felton actually, and much higher than Williams. There may be some question as to whether he is a PG, but he can certainly guard them on defense. And you can have Diaw handle the ball if you don't trust Shannon with it.
I was actually very suspicious of him myself when we signed him in the off-season but he has proved me wrong.

I saw on ESPN insider that the warriors are also looking to trade or buyout Marcus Williams because they need to make room on the roster for Monte Ellis. Could this trade be Felton for Wight and Williams? Williams would be your third point guard. Just a thought....
Also it works in trade machine
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/t ... &te=&cash=With that said I hate to lose Felton. Felton is one of my favorite players.

The Warriors won't trade Randolph or Wright straight up for Felton for one very simple reason:
Those two young guys still have plenty of time on cheap rookie deals where as Felton will be up for a new contract very shortly.

This would be amazing! Wright would be really awesome next to Okafor and Diaw and I think he'd be the guy were targeting... where do we find minutes for Randolph as currently constructed. I did immediately think about the Tayshaun Prince comparisons that the kid drew.
In another note, how many games would it take for a Warriors fan to make a "Raymond "The NEW Baron" Felton is a BEAST" thread on the GB?

From a Bobcats standpoint; I'd be really excited and happy as a fan if I could get EITHER Randolph or Wright for Felton straight up (1 for 1). That would be a great trade for you guys.
Randolph will be the better player. He can shoot (although not very well his rookie year) and he has great quickness for someone his size. Wright is more polished right now, but his ceiling isn't as high.
Doubt Warriors trade either of these guys without getting more than Felton, but who knows.
