Trade coming shortly

Post#1 » by Mr2400 » Tue Dec 23, 2008 6:57 am

I have a couple of sources that are pretty reliable (called the j rich trade about 2 days before it went down) that are saying the cats are having serious discussions regarding a trade. the only information i have is that 2 players will be outgoing, and both players were high draft picks. if i had to guess, i would say it would be wallace and someone else (morrison?) on the way out, but wallace was a 25th pick. no other information just yet, i'll keep you updated.

trade checker #4885398--I think I figured it out
Morrison and Felton for Frye/Blake and possibly draft pick ferom Portland
Reasoning: Frye did well under Brown with NYK and starts at 4 for us
Blake is a good veteran point and backs up Augustine starting at point with Singletary as
3rd point
Gain points and assists per game on trade
Hopefully a first or second round draft pick in 2009
Starting lineup
Augustine/ Blake/Singletary
Wallace /Bell/Brown/ Carroll
Diaw/Howard
Frye/ Ajinica/May -*-**-play diaw at 4 also
Okafore/ Nazr/Hollins

Please be Morrison and Felton... McMay would be better, but Pritchard ain't that silly. It would be too much to wish for.

I'd cry if it was Crash, especially after his recent performances.

EDIT: I've got zero idea why I decided it would involve Portland and Pritchard......

why would we trade Felton alone for Blake and Frye? Plaus adding Ammo (probly has no value). I don't have interest in Blake or Fyre unless it was for Ammo and McMay

Well first off is this guy reliable who just posted this? Has he ever posted anything lke this before and it worked?

If he knows when the players were drafted he should know who they are.

If it is Felton for Frye that would be absolutely great. Seriously Frye is a guy who has alot of potential and can do alot of things for us. He is a guy were if he gets alot of shots he does well and he would here.

I just read hoopsworld and it says a Odom for Wallace and Felton deal could possibly happen because of needing somebody to guard Pierce and now espially with Farmar down I can believe them.
For the Lakers I see this making sence but for the Bobcats I would say it makes sence except for the fact that Odom is a free agent after this year. Why would he stay?
If Odom agreed to sign or something which I am not even sure he is aloud to do it could make sence only because what else is out there and we wouldnt lose rebounding but our frontline would be so inconsistant.
For the Lakers I hate Odom (I am a Lakers/Cats fan) but maybe for the Bobcats he could be a 20/10/5 guy who could warrant us giving him big money which would be the only reason to get him to stay.
If I were to be completely unbias and put away my dislike for Odom I would say this trade makes sence for both parties and is actually realistic.

We'll let this run it's course for now - but the thread is going to need something more than "the cats are having serious discussions regarding a trade. the only information i have is that 2 players will be outgoing, and both players were high draft picks" to keep it from being locked.

I'm sure the cats are always in discussions about trades - heck they tell us they are - and considering most of our roster is made up of high draft picks there is nothing ground breaking here.

Please keep us posted. I bad mouthed the guy that called the JRich trade and had to eat crow. Given that, I'll most certainly give him the benefit of the doubt. If its two high draft choices it's gotta be Ray and Morrison. Hard to call May a high draft choice at 13, but I guess some could.

I sincerely hope it isn't Wallace and Felton for Odom. Wallace for Odom might be ok, but giving up both would be too much.

Time will tell.

Understand the concern over the float of this info, but I welcome the "insider" tidbit. Let's see if anything comes of it. I do enjoy the speculation about what the deal could be, if taking the insight at face value.

High draft picks? That doesn't include Wallace, who was a 25th pick. Again, taken at face value, I believe it clearly would be Felton and Morrison. Felton and May would be a dream, but May gets shipped only for his expiring (which could happen). I agree that Portland is the more likely partner in such a deal, but the players returned could be any number of guys. Blake would be a smart choice (to have a veteran PG and help DJ), but the other player would need to be a potential difference maker. While I like Frye I don't think he would be the player targeted in such a deal. Let's face it, Felton and Morrison, given their draft positions and potential, are too much for Blake and Frye. Felton and May for Blake and Frye would be AWESOME!

I'd like to see Bayless here within this deal. I think he has the potential to be a star player, in the mold of Iverson or Ben Gordon. LB would love to have an A.I. clone to complete his makeover.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

why in the hell would it be wallace? he was not a high draft pick he was 25 pick in the first round....thats not high at all....man this post feels alot like the trade thread on bobcatsplanet...i smell BS....but if its true after the diaw trade i am not going to flip out cause LB seems to be a better judge of trade value that I

Im not sure there to much for Frye and Blake.
Morrison's contract is just awful and there is a huge bonus in getting Frye and that is he can easily play C or at least play C enough were EO doesn't have to all the time. Plus plays out of the paint so Diaw and EO can stay there. He is a really good fit.
Plus if they do that they don't have to do anything stupid like overpay for a Brad Miller type big man,
Plus they get there veteran backup pg so there finally set at the point.
Frye averaged 12 points in 24 minutes as a rookie. He hasn't had a serious injury or anything like that he jsut needs the right situation.
Only thing is we would almost be forced to trade Crash for a sg but Salmons is on the market. Although Frye would probably be really happy here coming off the bench if he got a good 30 minutes which we could offer him espially since he is a 3 position player.

did i not mention in the original post that i was well aware of where wallace was drafted? believe whatever you wish, i can assure you that this is 100% legit.

I spoke with my friend (who works with the bobcats organization and is my source) just this morning and he told me that the deal is centered around felton for some front court help. They want to open up the back court to be developed around D.J because he shows promise as a future pg. It's still pretty sensitive information at this point so he couldn't let me know who the partner is, but we can certainly get some good ideas.

someone mentioned the lakers for odom, which is totally possible and mutually beneficial in my eyes. the blazers is another possibility, but i think they'd prefer roy facilitating the offense so they might not like felton too much. the heat are also looking for help at PG, so they may also be a partner. will keep you updated, i'll speak with my source later tonight about any updates

If we did this deal (Wallace & Felton for Odom) I'd hope we'd receive a 1st rounder with it. Yes we unload Wallace's contract and move Felton for some value, but I SERIOUSLY DOUBT Odom would re-sign here unless LB convinced him we could bolt to championship contention quickly.

But the Lakers do need a PG with the injury situation they have, and Odom is not helping them as much as he could help us.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I like the idea of Felton&Morison for Frye&Blake

Both Frye and Blake are solid players, the kind Brown likes.

Blake
Bell
Wallace
Diaw
Okafur

Very solid, experienced and defensive good starting five.

Augustin
Caroll
Frye
Mohamed

...I like this trade

Frye is a Center, even though he likes to camp out on the perimeter. His lack of speed and handle is why he has trouble guarding PFs or getting to the rack.

Not sure it's an automatic that Blake would be the backup, though I do think Augustine is legit.

Nice trade though, for both teams!

I don't hate Odom but this trade would be ROBBERY on the Lakers' end.

Though I felt JRich was the best player in the Diaw/Bell trade and didn't get adding Dudley, I still saw how it helped you guys.

Diaw and Odom in a way is a bit redundant.
