does anyone still believe in morrison?
a few weeks ago i announced i was finally jumping off the ammo bandwagon. knowing that i was one of the few remaining ammo supporters, i wonder if i was possibly the last.
yeah, he showed some signs of promise in the first few weeks, but he quickly regressed into the poor fg%, hot potato player we saw at the end of his rookie year. now his minutes have all but vanished, even after trading jrich and dudley.
his best asset at this point is his passing and unselfish play, but not at the cost of poor defense, poor rebounding, poor fg% and inconsistent shooting.
sadly, i think the best thing for his game would be a month long stint in the NBDL where he can go get his scoring mentality back. but that will never happen.
i hate the fact that i was so dead wrong about his pro prospects.
are there any ammo fans left out there?

I have no confidence in him. Just a bad draft pick.

I don't see it happening here for Morrison or for May.

It's possible he's out of the NBA for good after he leaves Charlotte.
Can't play defense, doesn't rebound, can't dribble. Isn't nearly a good enough shooter to offset those things. Isn't athletic enough to drive to the basket or make an impact on defense. Weird/bad body language.
He stays out of the way, that's a positive.
I feel kind of bad for him, he's not 100% in the head IMO.

Re: does anyone still believe in morrison?
My favorite Bobcat has quickly withered into a huge bust. But I don't think his career is over yet.
For one he clearly is not fit for this offense at his position. And Larry Brown doesnt seem to want to adapt his O for his players games. Morrison generally hides in the corner and rarely gets the ball inside the three point line and when he does get the ball 25ft. from the basket he has no chance of blowing buy his defender. So he usually puts up contested shots with little efficiency. As good as he is at passing I would like to see him play some hi lo with Emeka. Maybe catching the ball at the free throw line with the option of quickly dishing or shooting or driving. Probably still would not work but try something to utilize his skills. It's not like were even close to a .500 team right now.
On D LB always puts him in the wrong situation. He either needs to be in a zone D or playing the 2 position with three guys bigger than him behind him. He can't stick with anybody for more than one or two good defensive plays a game. I think the best lineup would be for him to be with DJ at point, Ammo at the two, GW at 3, and then Emeka and Diaw or Juwan or Nazr at the 4 and 5. He obviously does not care much about rebounding or defense or at least that's what it appears like to me.
Also this guy is a headcase, I thought coming into the league he was a tough guy but it almost looks as if he is ready to give it up because things are not going his way. Anybody who watched that Minnesota game his rookie year knows this dude's got talent but he has to put forth a hard nosed effort every night because his shot is not always going to fall. Confidence is clearly a huge part of his game and when he thinks he cant compete he gives up too easily.
If it doesn't work out for him he'll always have a tremendous college career to look back on, not a bad thing to have in your past.

Coming off screens set by bigs like Curry/Lee will give him the confidence he needs. He will give us 15-20pts every night in 20-25mpg. I know this sounds crazy but we can do it NOW with the next trade or later trade him for foder and watch him do it on another team. YES I"M AN AMMO FAN. NOW its up to Larry ? MJ /BJ![]()
to make the NYK trade? DO it and we WILL Win OR we will just be another 30-52 lottery team again this year?
It has to be difficult to do because it's liquid creme brulee, but please tell me this was inspired by too much eggnog.

His head is not in it. Maybe a change of scenery would help, I'm not optimistic.

I thought he was going to be a sharp shooting assassin. At worst I thought he would be what Jason Kapono is right now. Really there is no reason why he shouldn't be at least that type of player if he works hard at it, but unfortunately things don't work out all the time.
I hope he's invested his money wisely.

Yeah, I agree that his head is not in the game right now. I hate it for him, but for us more so. My gosh, we let a few great players get by us by drafting Ammo so high. That is a pick that will haunt us as it set us back a while. Roy or Gaye would have been so terrific here.

Re: does anyone still believe in morrison?
He looked really great in the Miami game earlier this month and then got a ton of burn right after in the blowout against NO when we were short handed after the Richardson trade. He's either not played or looked terrible since then.
I thought we made a mistake at the time, but understand how the franchise could've been really afraid of Roy. I tried to hope for the best, but it looked bleak...and then he looked really impressive to start the year (relative to my low expectations).
This is the tipping point. Either he responds to these DNP-CDs by doing the things LB needs him to do and becomes a contributing role player or he hones his Milicic impression as a grumpy Gus on the pine.

He can't become something he's not. The only way he's going to stick in the association is by strengthening the things he does well.
He should be a Jason Kapono type of player at worst. If he never reaches that level in my opinion it's on him because he's more talented than Kapono.

He wasn't a shooter in college, not even at the ft stripe. He was a scorer in college. This is why I had my doubts.

Bingo.
Matt Carroll is a shooter (even though it doesn't look like it lately). Kapono is a shooter.
Morrison is a scorer. He needs to be really involved in the offense to be productive. He is not a shooter you can just bring off the bench and expect to knock down open shots.
He's basically a streaky scorer.

Re: does anyone still believe in morrison?
I want to clarify that I think Morrison could stick in the league if he becomes a knockout shooter, but he's not that now and he hasn't been that... but it is a misconception that a lot of visiting fans have.

I disagree completely with that assessment. He was a scorer, but a scorer who could shoot from anywhere on the court, off the dribble or on the dribble.
He's already proved that he can shoot in the NBA also, but he's going to have to continue to get even better and embrace that role as a specialist.

College career 36.8% shooter from 3 and 76.1% from the FT line. He was a 50.3% shooter from the field because he was able to get to the basket. Case in point, his scoring got jacked up to 28.1 ppg as a junior from 19.0 as a Sophomore because he got 9 ft attempts a game as a Junior. Refresh my memory, but jump shooters don't normally get to the stripe that much, right?

Re: does anyone still believe in morrison?
He shot 43% from the arc his junior year taking 5 three pointers a game. Adam Morrison was a good jump shooter in college and has already shown to be a good jump shooter in the NBA. He just needs to get even better at defining himself in that role and get with a team that will value him in that role.
There is absolutely no reason why he can't be a 6th man type of jumpshooter off the bench in the NBA if he works at it. Like I said before if he can't fill that role in the NBA then it will because of injury, lack of working at it or something else because without question he has the talent to fill that type of role in the NBA.
There are many guys in the NBA who weren't as good shooting-wise as Morrison in college who worked at it and became solid NBA shooters.
